Lost Reapers MC- Claimed by the Bikers novel Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Lottie

I didn’t have friends, not really. In my position friends were dangerous. But I did have colleagues and one of them was standing at my door, scuffing his sneaker back and forth along the brick work as I stared at him in shock.

“So, this is where you live?” His eye darted everywhere but didn’t settle on me which meant he wasn’t looking at me on purpose.

have to admit Lottie, I’m surprised?”

“Why?”

He had the good graces to look sheepish. “I just meant it’s a pretty big house and we don’t exactly pay you a lot at the shelter.”

They paid me almost nothing at the shelter but I didn’t work for the money. I had plenty of that. I worked because I liked to keep myself busy and well-after what I had done I wanted to make some kind of amends to the universe.

Before the shelter it had been as a care assistant but now my heart and soul were with the animals that life abandoned.

There was a kind of kinship there.

I shrugged. “The rents are pretty reasonable. I met my neighbor last night.” and he was smoking hot, I added silently. “And he’s a member of some biker club called the lost Reapers or something. I guess that keeps the prices down.”

Brown eyes narrowed, and he threw a look over his shoulder. Almost like he expected to see a leather clad biker barreling down on him. He paled and I couldn’t help but grin.

Coward.

“Yeah that would keep the prices down.” He mumbled. “Did they threaten you, they have a really bad rep Charlotte.”

“No, they didn’t threaten me.” I said quickly.

Well one threatened me with a good time but I wasn’t about to say that out loud. For one I didn’t want the man in front of me, who was pretty much my boss, to know anything about my personal life and two, i wasn’t sure I was going to take Xander up on his otter

just yet.

“Thats good.” He mumbled and looked away again. “So are you busy?”

“Just unpacking and decorating and doing some gardening. Do you need me to come in? Did I miss a call?”

He shook his head in a quick no. “No it’s nothing like that at all. I just popped around to see if you wanted to go for lunch.”

I glanced up at the sky.

Chapter 7

“Or maybe dinner.” He amended quickly. “It took me a few hours to work up the courage after I found your address from your

employment records.”

“Dr Asini, you got my address from?” I couldn’t even finish the sentence. He was one of the vets in the shelter but I was pretty sure

what he was doing broke all sorts of rules.

“It’s not creepy or anything like that. It’s just dinner and maybe a walk. I find you fascinating.” he added quickly. “But if you’re too busy then I’ll just see you at work and we will forget all about it.”

Only he didn’t look like he would forget all about it. In fact he looked like he would hold a grudge and i really really liked this job.

“I don’t know-”

“I’ll tell you what. Why don’t we swing by the shelter. Grab a few dogs and take them to the beach, it will be cool enough by then and you know how we always get an influx of people wanting to adopt when we take them out in public. I’ll even buy you a hot

dog.”

My eyes crinked at the edges as I smiled. “A hot dog you say, you sure know how to woo a girl.” Winging open the door, I stepped back to let him in. “Come on in, I just need to sort out a few things but then I’ll be ready.”
