Chapter 101 The Perfect Act

Lucy couldn’t get caught. They weren’t even related. If she were arrested, she would definitely give Hillary

Hillary thought her plan was flawless. But she didn’t know that the moment Lucy boarded a plane to leave Grandridge, Raymond’s men caught her.

Hillary believed Lucy was already gone, far away from the city.

She came to the hospital to see Agnes for two reasons. First, to check how badly Agnes was hurt. Second, to test the waters. What did they know, and did they suspect her

Megan set the flowers down and brought a chair over. Hillary sat gracefully, calm and composed.

“Agnes, I’m so relieved you’re okay. You have no idea how worried I was when I heard what happened.”

Agnes laughed softly. Hillary’s poor acting never got old.

“Really? You were worried? About what? Worried I didn’t die?” Agnes laughed again.

Hillary’s face changed at once. Her calm mask almost broke. The corner of her mouth twitched. Then, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a familiar figure outside the window.

In an instant, she switched her expression.

“Agnes, how can you say that? I really was worried about you. Yes, we’ve had our differences, but I never wanted anything bad to happen to you. I know Raymond still cares about you. I… I don’t want to see him

hurt.”

At that moment, the door opened. Raymond stood there, a storm brewing in his eyes.

He frowned slightly and said in a cool voice, “Why are you here?”

Hillary quickly stood up. “Raymond, you’re here. I came for a routine checkup, and I thought I’d stop by to see Agnes.”

For some reason, the way Raymond looked at her today felt different.

“Raymond, you should stay with Agnes. I’ll go for my checkup. Agnes, take care. I’ll visit you again another day.”

She picked up her bag and walked toward the door. As she passed Raymond, her ankle suddenly gave way, as if she were too weak to stand.

Hillary held her forehead, swaying like she might faint. Raymond reacted quickly and caught her before she could fall.

“I’m so sorry, Raymond,” she said, looking a little embarrassed. “I stood up too fast just now. I feel a little dizzy.”

Agnes sat on the bed, watching the whole act in silence. This was Hillary’s favorite move.

First, she acted kind and reasonable, always stepping back. Then she added these small, helpless gestures, making people feel sorry for her and give in.

As expected, Raymond would go with her next.

“I’m really fine, Raymond. You don’t need to worry. I can go by myself. Stay here with Agnes.”

Hillary spoke while walking unsteadily toward the door. Out of the corner of her eye, she kept watching Raymond. Sure enough, he was staring at her.

She slowed her steps on purpose, waiting for him to speak.

“Hillary,” Raymond said, “wait for me. I’ll go with you.”

Hillary felt a quiet thrill inside. Haha, this trick never failed.

After she left, Raymond walked over to Agnes’s bed. He gently tucked the blanket around her. “I’ll be back. soon,” he said softly.

Agnes didn’t look up. She didn’t say a word.

She had expected this. Still, a wave of disappointment and disgust rose in her chest, hard to hold back.

Raymond walked over to Megan and said quietly, “Throw the flowers away.”

Megan froze for a second, then nodded right away. “Yes Mr. Raymond.”

Raymond stepped out of the hospital room. Hillary saw him and rushed over with a bright smile. She slipped her arm around his, acting close and sweet.

“Raymond, I’m always so happy when you come with me for my checkups. No matter how much it hurts, I’m not scared when you’re here.”

Raymond glanced at her from the side. His eyes were dark and hard to read. “Is that so?”

Hillary led him to the doctor’s office. It was the same doctor who had been “helping” her with treatments for the past few years.

Not long ago, with Hillary’s help and her father’s connections, the doctor had just been promoted to head of the department.

But the office was empty. Hillary frowned. She found it odd. She had an appointment today.

Raymond stepped inside, closed the door, and locked it.

Hillary blinked, “Raymond, why did you lock the door? I have an appointment. The doctor should be here any minute.”
