Ethan laid Agnes out flat on the sofa, then turned and locked the door with deliberate care.

He began to unfasten her blouse, exposing a swath of flawless, ivory skin at her throat-so smooth and luminous it looked almost impossibly delicate, like porcelain just out of the kiln.

He swallowed, unable to resist the allure; he’d had his share of women, but Agnes was in a class of her ow

Meanwhile, at Newton Group, the receptionist brought a box of supplements to Raymond.

“Mr. Newton, Ms. Sinclair asked me to give this to you.”

Raymond accepted it, his eyes flicking over the label.

The fact that Agnes had come to the office but hadn’t delivered it herself-opting instead to send it through a receptionist-left a sour taste in his mouth.

He immediately called her, unsurprised when she didn’t answer. Agnes made a habit of ignoring his calls.

He turned to the receptionist. “Did she say anything else?”

“She said it was from your grandmother. Oh, and she took a call while she was here. She looked upset and left in a hurry.”

Raymond’s brow furrowed. Who had called her? Who was she so anxious to see?

For some reason, Neal’s name surfaced in his mind, stirring an irrational jealousy.

He grabbed Eden’s phone and tried again.

Agnes always picked up Eden’s calls when something was urgent.

But this time, no matter whose phone he used, every call went straight to voicemail-her phone was powered off.

A surge of frustration burned in his chest. His mind conjured up every sordid possibility of Agnes and Neal together.

“Eden, track Agnes’ location for me. Use her phone’s GPS. Do it now.”

“Yes, Mr. Newton.”

Within minutes, Eden reported that her phone was pinging at a bar.

Raymond left immediately, and the staff parted at his approach.

He flashed Agnes’ photo to the bartender, who recognized her instantly.

But Ethan had already instructed the bar staff not to disturb anyone in that private suite.

The bartender stammered, “Sorry, Mr. Newton, may I ask why you’re looking for that lady?”

Raymond’s expression was thunderous, menace radiating from him, his eyes cold and bright with warning. The bartender trembled under the weight of his glare.

“I’m so sorry, Mr. Newton. I didn’t mean to pry… it’s just that Mr. Nolan is here tonight. He said the lady is his

guest and no one should go near their room…”

Raymond’s scowl grew darker. “Mr. Nolan?”

The bartender nodded frantically. “Yes, from the Nolan Group in Grandridge…”

Raymond knew of the Nolans, but he’d never heard much about their young heir.

Why wasn’t Agnes with Neal? What business did she have here with another man?

“Take me to the suite.”

Raymond’s voice was glacial, and the bartender grasped the gravity of the situation instantly.

In Raymond’s eyes, Ethan was nothing but an insect.

He hurried to lead Raymond to the private room, fumbling with the handle-only to find it locked from inside.

A voice bellowed from within. “What the hell? Who’s out there? I’m busy! Get lost!”

The bartender shot Raymond a helpless glance, but Raymond’s patience had snapped.

He drew back and kicked the door in with a thunderous crash.

Inside, Ethan sprang up, startled, hovering over the unconscious Agnes.

“What the fuck! Who the hell are you? Do you even know who I am? You’ve got some nerve-get your manager-”

His rant was cut off by a scream as Raymond’s fist crashed into his face, sending Ethans nose sideways and knocking out several teeth.

In seconds, Ethan’s face was smeared with blood.
