Chapter 117 Tense Dinner

Finisi

Raymond’s grandmother fashed Raymond a radiant smile and beckoned him to the seat beside her. Raymond gave no one a glance. His expression was grim as he made his way straight to Duncan.

He said nothing. He seized Duncan and dragged him from his chair, hurling him to the floor before everyone’s eyes. Raymond drove his foot into Duncan’s chest with merciless force.

A sharp crack ripped through the room, reverberating off the walls. Blood streamed from Duncan’s mouth. His ribs caved beneath Raymond’s relentless pressure.

It all unfolded in an instant. The Newtons were paralyzed, faces morphing from stunned disbelief to horror. Screams shattered the silence.

Jillian snapped, lunging at Raymond, clawing and shoving at him, frantic to free Duncan.

Raymond didn’t move a muscle. He stood rooted, unmoved by her desperation.

Joseph and Sabrina barked at the staff to intervene. More than a dozen people struggled to wrench Raymond away. He fought them like a beast, his strength appalling.

Jillian collapsed by Duncan’s side, her voice piercing as she wailed through the chaos.

“Call an ambulance! Somebody call the cops! Joseph, you saw what happened! I told you, I warned you about Raymond! Ever since he got back, he’s treated me and the kids like dirt! But you never listened! Look at what he’s done! He tried to kill Duncan! Duncan’s your son, too! Are you satisfied now? Raymond you maniac! You’ll never find peace, you monster! Help! Please, someone help!”

Joseph shook off his stupor and charged at Raymond. He slapped Raymond again and again, his voice trembling with rage.

“What is wrong with you? Are you trying to get yourself killed? Raymond! What on earth are you doing?”

Raymond kept silent, wild-eyed. He stared at Duncan, sprawled on the floor, trembling, blood bubbling from his lips.

Grandma clutched her chest, her voice barely steady as she pleaded for calm.

“Everyone, stop! Right now! Please, just stop! Get Duncan to the hospital! All of you, stop it!”

The Newton home erupted in chaos that night. Duncan was rushed to the hospital, teetering on the edge of death. He made it, but only just

The truth about Duncan and Agnes came out to the Newton family. Even knowing Duncan’s guilt, they claimed Raymond had gone too far.

They insisted he should have told the adults and let them handle Duncan.

Raymond saw through their pretense. If he’d done nothing, the Newtons would have covered it up.

Jillian would have shielded Duncan. They might have given him a scolding or cut his allowance, but nothing more.

Chapter 117 Tense Dinner

This time, Joseph was livid. He swore to throw Raymond out of the family. Raymond didn’t care. He’d always known he didn’t belong.

After his father’s affair and his mother’s death, the house held no meaning for him. The only reason he’d stayed was for Sabrina.

He let his father strike him. He let Jillian hurk.curses. This time, he didn’t even look back at Sabrina.

He abandoned everything. He walked out of the Newton house without a backward glance.

Agnes drifted in and out of consciousness in a strange bed. Time lost all meaning.

She blinked and recognized the familiar room. For a moment, she thought she was dreaming. This was t house she and Raymond had bought after their wedding.

Why was she here? Agnes pressed her aching head, searching her memory.

She had gone to pick up Rebecca from the bar. She’d seen Ethan there. After that, everything was a blur.

Agnes stared into space, bewildered. What had happened?

She pulled out her phone and dialed Rebecca. Rebecca picked up almost immediately.

Agnes asked, “Rebecca, where are you?”

“I’m at the hospital.”

Rebecca’s tone was frigid. Ethan wasn’t dead, but he had fallen from an upper floor and was still unconscious.

The doctor said Ethan’s head was injured. He could die at any time.

Even if they managed to save him, there was a high chance he’d never wake up.

Rebecca’s heart was burning with hatred. Everything had been going well. Ethan had apologized to her, genuinely.

He admitted he’d acted out of fear when he heard about the baby. He confessed to being selfish and cruel and promised to make amends.

He told her he’d take care of her and the baby. He swore they’d get married as soon as the baby was born.

Rebecca had started to hope again. Then Agnes had shown up, looking for Ethan.

Rebecca was certain Agnes had gone to sabotage things, maybe even dragged Raymond with her.

Rebecca remembered she’d only asked Agnes to talk to Ethan, to persuade him.

But what Rebecca saw was Ethan, his face smeared with blood after Raymond’s beating, driven to leap from the balcony.

Agnes! Why? Why do you always have to wreck things between me and Ethan? Why?
