Agnes stood there, stunned. Anger burned in her chest. She wanted to tear Ursa apart. That woman had actually hurt her own family–how low could she really go?

Then they brought up Hillary.

Agnes looked at Raymond. “I want to know–what are you going to do with Hillary? Are you turning her in to the police?”

Raymond shook his head. “Not yet.”

“Why?”

“I have my reasons. But don’t worry. She’ll be punished.”

“Ha,” Agnes let out a small, cold laugh. “Really? Like last time? Quietly sending her back to Montara?”

Raymond froze. He realized she was talking about the time she had been locked in the freezer at St. Austen University.

“I can explain,” he said quickly. “It’s not what you think.”

“Then what is it?” Agnes looked straight at him. “Deep down, you still care about her.”

“Agnes, no. That’s not true. You have to believe me. You’re the only one in my heart.”

“Then give her to me,” Agnes said flatly. “She’s hurt me more than once. I’ll deal with her myself.”

Raymond stared at her, his expression complicated. His voice dropped. “No.”

Agnes almost laughed. Even now, he was still protecting Hillary. Of course. His first love.

No matter what Hillary did, he would always clean up after her.

Rebecca had been right. There would always be Hillary between them. A wall she could never get past.

Raymond noticed she was upset. He reached for her hand and spoke gently.

Agnes cut him off. “That’s enough. I get it. Go tell Hillary to hold on to you tight. Because if she ever runs into me, I won’t show mercy. Whatever she did to me, I’ll pay her back twice over.”

She paused, then added coldly, “And you two better stay together. Don’t come near me again. Next time. I won’t let either of you off.”

Raymond hurried to explain, but Agnes refused to listen. She put on her headphones and blocked him

out.

The car stopped at Newton Estate. Agnes got out on her own, ignoring Raymond calling after her.

Only then did Agnes stop struggling. She looked at the envelope, confused, then glanced at him. “What’s

this?”

“You’ll know after you read it,” Raymond said. “Go see Grandma. She’s not in good health. Don’t upset her

Agnes was still wondering why Sabrina would be upset when Raymond suddenly pulled her into his arms wrapping an arm around her waist.

She tried to push him away, but he held her tighter.

“Didn’t I say?” he said softly. “Grandma’s not well. Don’t you want her to see us getting along?”

Agnes stopped struggling.

He was right. Sabrina had always wanted the two of them to be happy together.

The moment she saw Sabrina–thin and worn after so long apart–Agnes couldn’t hold it in anymore. She rushed to the bedside and burst into tears.

Sabrina quickly comforted her. “Agnes, why are you crying? I’m fine. Come here, let me look at you.”

She studied Agnes closely, her voice full of concern.

“You’ve lost weight again. And what’s this? You’re hurt?! Did Raymond bully you? Don’t be afraid. Tell me. I’ll stand up for you.”
