Chapter 19 Leaving Newton

Agnes had already sade up her mind. She was going to get a divorce immediately. She was going to move out of this place.

“Let’s get the divorce done as soon as possible. The sooner the better. I don’t want anything. I’m available anytime.” Agnes said.

“Agnes! What is wrong with you lately? Every time something happens, you threaten me with divorce. Look at yourself. If you leave the Newtons, where can you go? What can you even do?” Raymond snapped.

The moment Raymond finished saying that, he suddenly regretted it. He realized his words had gone too far.

Agnes looked at the man in front of her. He clearly had a handsome face, yet the words coming out of his mouth were so disgusting.

For a moment, she suddenly wondered if she had been blind all these years.

So all the effort she had put in for him and for the Newtons meant nothing in his eyes. To him, she was useless. A nobody.

Agnes slowly curved her lips into a faint smile. She spread her arms slightly and quietly looked at Raymond, as if she were watching a clown.

“I’m sorry, I spoke too harshly just now. What I meant was that Grandma likes you, and the Newtons needs you.” Raymond said after a moment.

Perhaps it was because of the lingering obsession in her heart, but Agnes suddenly wanted to ask him something. What about you? Did you ever love me?

But she never asked the question. She knew it would only humiliate herself.

He had chosen the woman he truly loved, yet he seemed to have forgotten that she had once been his childhood sweetheart.

When Agnes was 18, she had kept the promise they once made. Holding the diary they had written together as children, she came to Grandridge.

She saw Raymond again after many years apart. But there was already another girl standing beside him.

Agnes didn’t disturb him. She quietly buried that feeling deep in her heart. Childhood promises were just childish words. Who would actually take them seriously?

Even so, Agnes had never regretted it. The moment her heart first fluttered in her youth had already take root deep inside her.

The boy in her memories was like warm sunlight in winter, warming her entire youth.

If not for the accident that happened in her family when she was 20, she thought she would never see that boy again in her life.

Two years later, when they met again, the love she had hidden in her heart overflowed once more. It had never faded. It had only grown stronger.

What Agnes never expested was that everything had been nothing more than her own wishful thinking. Now, she was truly tired. She no longer had the strength to keep loving him.

Agnes stood up from the couch. Enduring the pain in her leg, she didn’t say another word. She ignored Raymond calling her from behind and walked straight to her room.

Raymond didn’t chase after her. He assumed Agnes was just throwing another temper tantrum. If he gave her a little time, she would calm down on her own.

The next day, Agnes packed her belongings. As she packed, she suddenly found it a little ironic. After packing for quite a while, she ended up with only a small bag.

All the things Raymond had given her over the years, she didn’t want to take any of them. She only took the items that had originally belonged to her when she first came to the Newtons.

Agnes stood by the window and watched Raymond’s car drive away. She then slowly walked around the mansion one last time.

Three years had passed, yet it felt like three centuries. Did she regret it? Of course not.

Agnes had always been the kind of person who never regretted the things she had done. She only regretted the things she had never done.

When she left the mansion, she carried only her small bag. The Newton household staff assumed she was simply going out as usual, so no one paid any attention.

That night, Raymond returned home. He waited until very late, yet Agnes never appeared.

In his hand, he tightly held an emerald ring. It had once belonged to his mother, Judy Newton, who had given it to Agnes years ago.

Agnes loved that ring very much. Ever since their marriage, she had never taken it off. She once said the ring meant a lot to her.

Raymond called Agnes. Only then did he discover that both his messages and calls had been blocked.

He suddenly felt uneasy. Had she really left?

After thinking about it all night, Raymond stubbornly convinced himself that Agnes was only trying to scare him.

She loved him so much. In the past, no matter how cold he was to her, she never left. Not to mention now that he was willing to lower himself and comfort her.

The next day, Eden received a call from his boss, Raymond. Raymond told him to bid for the nost expensive sheath dress in Grandridge.

Hadn’t she always wanted that dress? He had originally planned to buy it for her anyway. Now it would be a surprise for her.
