Love After Leaving: No Regret (Agnes and Raymond) novel Chapter 230

Chapter 230 A Mother’s Rage

Another nurse slung an arm around Nadia’s shoulders and joked with a grin.

Nadia didn’t dare look up, only murmuring a soft hum as she nodded repeatedly.

The nurse yawned, covering her mouth, then waved at Nadia.

“I’m heading home to sleep. This job is exhausting and doesn’t even pay well.

“You’ve got the night shift, so hang in there.”

Nadia lifted her head slightly and waved back. That had just scared her half to death.

Once the nurse left, Nadia gently pushed open the door to the hospital room.

On the bed inside lay a man covered in tubes.

His eyes were tightly shut, as if he had no awareness of anyone entering the room.

He was extremely thin, especially his limbs, reduced to little more than skin and bones.

Nadia slowly walked to his side, her eyes instantly turning red.

“This is your punishment! This is what you deserve!

“God is punishing you by never letting you wake up. You’re stuck here, unable to die, forced to suffer!”

As she spoke, Nadia crouched beside the bed, sobbing as she gently took his hand.

“But why… Why is it that even after everything you did to me, I still can’t forget you…

“Sob… It hurts so much here… It hurts…” Nadia pressed his finger against her chest.

“Why did God tear us apart? Why couldn’t we be together?

“Why did we have to go through so much? Why…”

Nadia cupped the man’s face in her hands, staring at him with deep emotion as tears streamed down like broken beads.

Her voice was choked, nearly shattered,

“Do you know how hard these past few years have been for me?

“They sold me like livestock to a mentally disabled man to be his wife.

“I was beaten, starved, forced to clean up after him, and serve his entire family. My life was worse than death…”

Nadia sobbed uncontrollably, but the man in front of her remained unresponsive, as if he couldn’t hear a thing.

She looked him up and down.

The once bright, handsome boy was now nothing but a hollow shell, gaunt and lifeless.

Finishes

Her fingertips brushed over his frail body as she choked out, “You’ve suffered too, haven’t you? Look at you… How did you become this thin?

“They didn’t take care of you at all, did they?”

Nadia grabbed his hand and pressed it tightly against her cheek, speaking softly,

“Ethan, I’m back… I missed you so much…”

But the only response she got was the cold, mechanical beeping of the machines beside him.

Her heart shattered piece by piece.

After crying for a long time, Nadia lifted her hand and gently traced his brow.

He was warm and breathing. It was as if he were only asleep.

So many nights, she had dreamed of their past together.

In those dreams, he was still as gentle as before, doting on her, caring for her in every way.

Sometimes, those dreams were so beautiful and vivid that she wished she could stay in them forever and never wake up.

Nadia leaned down and kissed his forehead, whispering softly, “Ethan, I have good news for you.

“Our daughter… She’s still alive…”

She didn’t know if it was her imagination, but she felt his fingers twitch slightly in her hand.

“Ethan, you can hear me, can’t you?”

Nadia almost cried out in excitement, but quickly glanced toward the door before turning back to him.

“Agnes adopted our daughter. That vicious woman ruined our lives, and it still wasn’t enough!

“She even took our daughter from us!

“Back then, she played me like a fool. The Nolans too!

“It must’ve been her. She tampered with the DNA test results!

She tore our family apart and left our daughter wandering without a home!”

wiped her tears, pulled out her phone, and brought up a photo of a little girl, holding it in front of
