Love After Leaving: No Regret (Agnes and Raymond) novel Chapter 240

Chapter 240 A Battle of Pride

Neal snapped, “That’s enough! Raymond!”

Neal suddenly realized he’d lost his composure and hurried to apologize to Agnes.

“I’m sorry, Agnes. I—I got a little too worked up just now…”

Raymond had genuinely gotten under his skin.

Agnes looked at the two men locked in silent competition, her brows knitting slightly as she let out a sigh and called the waiter over.

“Hi, I’ll have a mushroom soup. Thank you.”

“I’ll have the same as her, thanks.”

Raymond followed immediately, shooting Neal a provocative glance as Neal’s face darkened.

Their gazes clashed, and the air turned sharp with tension.

When the waiter brought the food to the table, Raymond thoughtfully blew on the bowl of mushroom soup in front of him and placed it before Agnes.

Agnes was speechless.

Seeing this, Neal switched the bowl back with the hot one in front of Agnes.

“Agnes, soup should be eaten hot. Letting it cool isn’t good for your stomach, especially if it’s been mixed with someone else’s spit and germs.”

Raymond’s expression darkened. Calling my spit full of germs?

He stubbornly placed the now warm bowl back in front of Agnes and said, “Agnes, soup that’s too hot isn’t good for your mouth or stomach. Some people pretend they know everything, but really, they’re just making a fool of themselves.”

Agnes watched the two grown men pushing two bowls of mushroom soup back and forth across the table, neither willing to back down.

She was speechless. Finally, she snapped, stood up, and said, “You two take your time eating. I’m going back to pack and return to Grandridge.”

Neal immediately stood. “Agnes, I’ll take you.”

Agnes shook her head. “No need, Neal. I’ve already booked a car. Thank you for helping me this time.

“I’m heading back to Grandridge. Take care. We’ll meet again when we have time.”

After saying goodbye, Agnes turned and left, completely losing her appetite thanks to those two childish men.

Raymond strode after her. “Wait for me! I’m going back to Grandridge with you.”

Behind him, Neal’s low voice rang out. “I know you’re already divorced. She’s single now.

“She has the right to choose the life she wants and pursue her own happiness.

“Between you and me, it’s a fair competition. This time, I won’t lose to you.”

Raymond’s eyes were full of disdain. “Do you even know her? Fair competition? What are you competing with?

“Listen carefully, Neal. As long as I’m here, there’s no way anything will ever happen between you two.”

Neal let out a light laugh. “Oh? I happen to enjoy challenging the impossible. We’ll see, Raymond.”

After returning to the hotel, Agnes packed her things and contacted Josh to arrange everything for him.

She personally accompanied Josh on the high-speed train back to Grandridge.
