Chapter 263 Back to Luxury
After Bianca and Monica were taken to the police station, Bianca suddenly took all the blame onto herself.
She insisted Monica knew nothing and that everything had been done by her alone.
On top of that, someone paid a massive bail for Monica.
Just like that, Monica was released.
She walked out of the station alone, shivering from the cold.
She was once the untouchable Hales heiress, now reduced to being detained and cast out.
She was homeless and worn down like a stray on the street.
Suddenly, a warm coat was draped over her shoulders.
She looked up in a daze. Duncan stood beside her, concern in his eyes, pulling her close by the shoulders.
“Duncan…”
Monica broke. She threw herself into his arms, sobbing, everything she had been holding in spilling out all at once.
“Monica, it’s okay. I’m here,” he said softly.
He had planned to use short-selling Hales’ stock to trap Raymond.
Instead, Raymond turned it around on him. The short failed, and it backfired hard, costing him a fortune.
He figured something big had happened at the Hales, and soon heard about Bianca and Monica.
He went to see Bianca first and convinced her to take all the blame.
Then he paid a huge sum to get Monica out on bail.
Duncan took Monica to a villa in the suburbs of Grandridge.
There, she saw someone she didn’t expect, Rebecca.
Looking around at the massive luxury house, the staff moving about, Monica couldn’t help but fro
She turned to Duncan. “Dusacan, is this your place? Or did you rent it?”
He wrapped an art around her and said gently, “Just one of the properties under my name.”
Her confusion deepened. “Where did you get that kind of money? And…you lasted a lot when Raymond turned things around on you…”
At that moment, several house staff hurried over. They helped Duncan change his shoes, took his coat and greeted him respectfully.
“Welcome back, Mr. Duncan. Would you like us to prepare your bath?”
“No need,” Duncan said Is Ms. Hale’s room ready?”
“Yes, Mr. Duncan. Ms. Hale’s room is right next to yours.”
Monica stared at him, stunned. Mr. Duncan?
“Duncan… why are they calling you that? What’s going on?”
He chuckled and tapped her lightly on the nose.
