Love After Leaving: No Regret
Chapter 265 I Own You
Just because I came from nothing does that mean I deserve to have my dignity trampled like this?
The next morning, Duncan left early to take care of business.
Rebecca sat in the living room, having breakfast.
Halfway through, she heard the staff nearby speaking respectfully.
“Ms. Hale, you’re up. Mr. Duncan asked us to prepare breakfast to your taste. I’ll bring it right away
Monica hummed lazily as she came down the stairs.
The moment she saw Rebecca sitting there, the irritation in her chest flared up again.
Yesterday, with Duncan around, she held back.
Some nobody from a backwater place, and now she’s acting like the lady of the house.
What right does she have to be served by staff and to be treated the same?
“Good morning, Ms. Hale.”
Rebecca knew how to keep her place. Even in someone else’s home, she greeted her first.
Monica didn’t respond. She sat across from her, chin tiked high.
Rebecca just smiled faintly and continued eating.
A staff member refilled her milk and handed her a napkin.
The sight made Monica even more annoyed.
Soon, the staff placed coffee and freshly toasted bread in front of Monica.
She reached for the cup, but her hand slipped, and coffee spilled all over the floor.
The staff rushed over. “Ms. Hale, are you okay? Fil get you another cup.”
One of them bent down to clean it, but Monica stopped her with a hand.
“No need. Let her clean it.”
She pointed at Rebecca, a mocking smile curling at her lips.
“If you’re staying here, you should at least be useful, Ms. Foster.”
The staff froze, unsure what to do.
Rebecca smiled calmly. Instead of moving, she took another bite of her breakfas her voice soft.
“Ms. Hale, there are staff here. Why make things difficult for me?”
One of the maids quickly stepped forward, eager to smooth things over.
“I’ll clean it, Ms. Hale. I’m used to this.”
She crouched down, but Monica kicked her aside.
“Get lost. Who told you to show off? If you don’t want your job, leave. Since when do you get to speak here?”
