Love After Leaving: No Regret (Agnes and Raymond) novel Chapter 290

Eileen panicked. She'd always bragged about this boutique to everyone around her.

After all, anyone who could get into the VIP circle of Carmen's luxury stores wasn't just anybody.

All the socialites and heiresses in Grandridge treated it like a status symbol.

If word got out that she'd been permanently blacklisted, she'd become a complete joke in their circle.

"Call security. Throw her out."

Carmen rolled her eyes and gave Iris a quiet instruction.

Agnes raised a brow, a little surprised. Carmen really did things her own way.

That gown cost a fortune, yet she dropped the sale without blinking.

Once Eileen was dragged out by security, Carmen walked over to Agnes.

"You okay, Ms. Sinclair? Sorry I'm late."

"I'm fine," Agnes said, then hesitated.

"I just don't get it. She already paid. Why cancel the sale all of a sudden?

"We're in business. Isn't dealing with difficult customers just part of it?

"At the end of the day, money's what matters, right?"

Carmen smiled.

"You're my friend. I'd rather lose money than let my friend get pushed around."

She tilted her head, grinning. "Ms. Sinclair, we're friends, right?"

Agnes smiled back. "Of course. But you really didn't have to give up such a huge deal because of me."

"My rule's simple. Friends come before money, especially friends I actually like." Carmen chuckled.

"Besides, when I got here, I saw everything on the cameras. You looked like you were having fun.

"Watching that nouveau-riche woman get put in her place was way more entertaining than making money. I couldn't stop laughing."

Agnes let out a soft laugh. She had to admit, she'd enjoyed it.

"Can I call you Agnes?" Carmen asked. "You can call me Carmen."

"Sure, Carmen."

Carmen slung an arm around her shoulders, warm and easy. "I like you more the longer I'm around you.

"Honestly, Raymond must've hit the jackpot to end up with you."

Agnes's cheeks warmed. She coughed lightly and lowered her voice. "Um... actually... we're divorced."

"What?"

Carmen blurted it out, then froze, something clicking in her mind. She let out a quiet sigh.

"That explains it... I remember there was a stretch where he looked completely out of it. He lost a ton of weight.
