Carmen let out a light scoff. "Haha, Frank, stop pretending. You know it better than I do. Why else would Mom call us here? It's just to back her up and see if Dad is up to something shady."

Frank gave a half-smile. "I really don't know, haha."

Carmen laughed. "You hate coming to events like this. Mom must've begged you for a long time before you agreed to show up, right? Haha!"

Frank sighed. "I really can't hide anything from you."

Carmen frowned. "The whole family is counting on you, but all you care about is your hospital. Dad and Mom are going to be furious with you."

Frank suddenly patted her shoulder and said in a meaningful tone, "Carmen, it would've been great if you were a man. You know I've never cared about inheriting the family business or getting married. But you're more than capable of taking on that role. Everyone has seen how hard you've worked over the years. It's just a shame the Shaws still believe in that outdated idea—only sons can inherit, not daughters. What a waste..."

Carmen gave a bitter smile. She had worked harder than anyone.

Carmen grinned. "Yeah. She's my friend now."

Frank looked confused. "Why would I tell you? Raymond is chasing after his wife again. They'll end up together anyway."

Carmen didn't agree. "How do you know? That's not certain."

Frank explained, "Just a guess. From what I know about Raymond, if he sets his heart on someone, he won't let go easily."

Carmen muttered under her breath, "And yet he still got divorced..."

Frank said, "Maybe there was a misunderstanding before. They just need time to fix it..."

Then he suddenly changed the topic. "Hey, why do you always mess with Raymond? Did he offend you or something?"
