A familiar, faint fragrance lingered at Raymond’s nose, stirring something restless deep inside

him.

He almost wished his injuries were worse, that his recovery would take longer.

“Does it hurt?” Agnes’s voice was soft, laced with concern.

“Not really…”

Raymond answered instinctively. Then, as if realizing something, he frowned and quickly corrected himself.

“It does! Ouch! Everything hurts. Agnes, take a look for me…”

“Huh? Where else does it hurt?”

Agnes immediately grew nervous, scanning him from head to toe, reaching to pull up his shirt to check.

The next second, Raymond grabbed her wrist.

With a firm tug, he pulled her into him, his voice low and teasing.

“Agnes, why are you so bold? Pulling at my clothes like that? What are you trying to do?”

Meeting his suggestive gaze, Agnes finally realized she’d been tricked.

She struggled to pull free, but he used the moment to drag her straight into his arms.

“Hey! Raymond!”

Raymond held her tightly, whispering against her ear, “I’m fine. I just suddenly missed you.”

Agnes’s face warmed slightly, and she pushed him away.

“What’s wrong with you now? Where exactly does it hurt?”

A faint smile tugged at Raymond’s lips. His long fingers tapped lightly over his chest.

“Here, Dr. Agnes, this is where it hurts. Only you can fix it.”

Agnes’s expression darkened. She tossed the medicine at him. “Treat it yourself.”

She wasn’t in the mood for his jokes. Her mind was filled with thoughts of Rebecca.

That woman had completely crossed every line. Yesterday, she had the nerve to cause chaos at the hospital and still managed to escape without a trace.

Had she gotten smarter, or was someone powerful backing her from the shadows?

Raymond noticed Agnes’s serious expression and dropped his playful tone.

“You’re worried about Rebecca?”

Agnes nodded. “Yesterday, she was clearly targeting Monica. It’s strange…

“I don’t know what kind of grudge they have. She was determined to kill her even though they were supposed n the same side.”

“What?” Agnes stared at him in shock.

Raymond met her gaze with a faint smile, holding her hand tighter. “So this time, we have to face it together.”

In the days that followed, Grandridge seemed calm again. It was as if everything had been nothing more than a passing storm.

Monica remained in her hospital room, recovering. Raymond arranged for even more security around her.
