“Mr. Newton, y–you. What are you doing? Hey, let go of me…”

The men in black dragged Linda away.

Raymond turned to Eden! “Keep Linda under control for now, Go investigate her son.”

“Yes, Mr. Newton.”

After dealing with Linda, Raymond returned to the room.

He sat beside Agnes’s bed, quietly gazing at her. Gently, he brushed the tear marks still lingering on her face, a dull ache forming in his chest.

He wanted badly to pull her into his arms, but he was afraid of waking her.

So he simply stayed by her side the entire night.

The next morning, Raymond received a call from Eden. He ended the call and glanced at Agnes, who was still asleep.

Then, he stepped out of the room and called Eden back.

“Mr. Newton, Linda’s son has been addicted to gambling for years. Recently, he owed a huge debt.

“The people at the casino were going to break his limbs, but someone paid it off for him.

“Not all at once–it was monthly installments.”

Raymond asked, “Did you find out who’s paying for him behind the scenes?”

“Yes. Just as you suspected. Should we make a move?”

“No. Cut off the payment channel. Then leak his whereabouts to those casino people.”

“And… Linda?”

“Do nothing. Let her go.”

“Yes, Mr. Newton.”

For several days, Aghes neither ate nor drank. She sat by the window in her room, staring blankly into

space.

She couldn’t understand why. Did those people hate her or the child in her womb so much?

She had never offended anyone.

When Raymond came to see her, she ignored him.

The other servants told her that Linda had already left the villa.

Agnes felt utterly disheartened. Even though she said Linda had killed their child, Raymond showed no

reaction.

He actually let Linda leave just like that. She had killed their child, yet received no punishment at all.

In his eyes, anyone else seemed more important than her and their child.

That night, Raymond came to her room again and spoke carefully, “I’m going to the estate tomorrow.”

Agnes lay on the bed with her eyes closed, unwilling to respond.

Still, she was a little curious. In the past, he always brought her along when visiting the estate, but he was going alone this time. Was he bringing Hillary?

That was fine. If he brought his true love to meet his family sooner, then he could divorce her sooner.

At the Newton family estate, the butler was surprised to see Raymond return.

Aside from holidays or birthdays, he rarely came back.

“Welcome back, Mr. Newton.”

“Mm. Is Jillian home?”

“Yes, she’s tending the garden. Would you like me to call her?”

“No need. I’ll go find her myself.”

In the backyard garden, Jillian was carefully pruning her beloved plants when she heard footsteps behind

her.

She turned and saw Raymond, and she immediately put on a warm smile.

“Raymond, you’re back? Why didn’t you tell me earlier? I would’ve asked Megan to prepare your favorite dishes.”

“Thank you, but there’s no need. I came back today specifically to see you.”

“To see me? What is it?”

Raymond still wore a faint smile as he spoke calmly, “Didn’t Linda tell you?”

“What do you mean? Linda? Isn’t she still at your villa? What would she tell me?”

Raymond’s smile slowly faded, replaced by a solemn expression.

“You were the one she spoke to on the phone last night, weren’t you?”

Jillian’s expression stiffened briefly before quickly returning to normal.
