She had expected that man to be just as disappointed and affected as she was.
Yet, to her surprise, he remained as composed as ever, as if nothing serious had happened.
Instead, he ended up comforting her.
Agnes even suspected he was actually hurting but forcing himself to stay calm.
She said gently, "Raymond, don't feel down. I already spoke with Frank. Your condition is very stable right now. As long as we find a suitable cornea again, everything will be fine."
Raymond leaned back casually on the sofa, a faint smile lingering on his face.
"It's fine. I'm not in a rush anyway..."
Agnes frowned slightly.
"Not in a rush? Raymond, are you saying that on purpose?"
Raymond let out a soft laugh, clearly enjoying the situation.
He liked this period of time where Agnes was running around because of him, looking like she genuinely cared.
He said with a teasing tone, "Compared to the surgery, I prefer watching you worry about me."
Agnes was speechless. Even now, he still had the mood for jokes.
Her expression cooled as she said, "Fine. I thought you'd be upset, so I came to comfort you. But it looks like I worried for nothing. I'm leaving. Contact me if anything changes. Rest well."
She stood up and prepared to leave.
Behind her, Raymond noticed her movement and the smile slowly faded. As if afraid she would truly leave worried, his voice softened.
"Agnes, thank you... I'm really fine..."
She paused, then turned back and said bluntly, "No need. Since you're still able to joke around, you're clearly doing fine. I'm leaving."
She walked away without looking back, but once she turned, she quietly exhaled in relief.
He was far better than she had feared, and the heavy weight in her chest finally eased a little.
Just as Agnes reached the villa entrance, she ran into Clara hurrying over.
Before Clara even spoke, the strong scent of perfume reached her first, making Agnes frown slightly.
She also noticed Clara's nurse uniform was clearly modified.
What should have been a loose, professional outfit had been tailored tightly to highlight her figure.
When Clara saw Agnes leaving Raymond's place again, irritation flashed in her eyes.
But after Eden's warning last time, she forced herself to suppress it and put on a polite smile.
She had not even been on duty, but the moment she heard Agnes was here, she rushed over.
With a flattering tone, Clara said, "Ms. Sinclair, you're here. Would you like me to make you some coffee?"
Agnes replied, "No, thank you, Ms. Blue. I just came to check on Raymond. I'm leaving now."
