“Anyway, no matter what, making a killing off this. The rest? I don’t care. No point turning down easy money when it lands in your lap.”
Rebecca said, “Exactly! My queen Agnes GOAT behavior! But seriously, the Newton Group CEO-
“How blind can one man be? Choosing a disaster like her. She must have something on him.
“Hahaha! Unless it’s…”
Agnes looked at Rebecca curiously. “Unless it’s what?”
Rebecca’s eyes went sly, her grin turning absolutely feral.
“Unless she’s got his nudes! Or maybe he’s into something freaky? Cosplay? Maid outfit?
“Secretary outfit? Sexy bunny suit? Oh my God, that’s deranged-I love it. I need to see those pictures. Agnes spat out her coffee.
“You little gremlin! Is this what you do at school instead of studying? Scrolling thirst traps?”
Rebecca gasped. “Agnes, did you install spyware on my phone? My secrets are exposed!”
Agnes gasped, “Wait, for real?”
Rebecca said, “What’s the big deal? I should send you some! One look and it’s like a shot of espresso-
“You’ll be energized the whole day, mood through the roof!”
Agnes stammered, “Okay, okay, keep them to yourself.”
Rebecca ignored her and immediately spammed her with a nine-photo carousel of shirtless gym bros. claiming it was for Agnes’s “personal development.”
They were still goofing around when Rebecca’s phone rang. It was an unknown number
Rebecca answered. The caller said his last name was Newton and asked to speak with Aurora about Hillary.
Rebecca looked at Agnes. Agnes had heard every word. She knew exactly who it was.
She took the phone. Mr. Newton. I’m Aurora. What can I do for you?”
Raymond’s voice was smooth, measured. “Aurora, I was hoping you might do me the honor of dinner First, because your talent is extraordinary, and I’d love to make your acquaintance.
“Second, regarding Hillary-I’d like to apologize on her behalf. If there’s anything you require, name

As for Ms. Young-
“She caused me massive financial losses and severely damaged a brand I spent years building.
“I’m just an ordinary person. I’m not generous enough to forgive everything because of one apology.
“Actions have consequences. I’m sorry, M, Newton. If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up now.”
“One hundred million.” On the other end, Raymond stated a price with flat indifference.
Agnes suppressed her glee.. This absolute waste of a man-spending fortunes for his precious first love without blinking.
Fine. If he wanted to be generous, she’d bleed him dry.
“One billion.”
A beat of silence. “Aurora, you’re certainly bold. One billion? That’s a bit… ambitious.”
“My work is priceless. Every piece has my blood in it.”
“She placed thousands of fraudulent orders. On top of that, the stress has given me insomnia-
“I haven’t eaten or slept well for days; I’m physically and mentally exhausted.
“However you calculate it, it’s worth more than a billion. I’m only offering that as a compromise because you seem sincere, and because you’re someone with standing in Grandridge. I figured it was worth building a connection.
“Otherwise, from what I know, Hillary wouldn’t just owe me massive damages-she’d be looking at at least three to five years in prison, wouldn’t she?”
Raymond was quiet for a moment. Then, he laughed softly.
“Then, I’ll need you to provide a letter of clemency. I’ll have the billion wired to your company’s account. Thank you for the courtesy.”
After hanging up, Agnes couldn’t figure it out. If Raymond cared this much about Hillary, why wouldn’t he give her an official title?
He knew how much Hillary resented Agnes. Did he just enjoy watching two women fight over him?
Regardless-a billion dollars in a matter of days, all because of Hillary’s spectacular stupidity. Agnes supposed she owed the woman a thank-you card.
Beside her, Rebecca’s jaw hit the floor. “One billion!!!” she screamed at Agnes.
