Chapter 72 A Farewell Letter

Estelle exclaimed, Ah! You’re married? Good, good, good! Back then everyone thought highly of you two, said you were a perfect match.
“So you really ended up together. Oh right, do you have a child yet?”
Agnes pursed her lips. “No…”
Estelle said, “Then you’d better hurry up! Young people nowadays don’t like having kids. But look at you two, you’re both so good–looking. It would be a waste not to have a few: Hurry, hurry up!”
Raymond nodded, while Agnes gave an awkward smile.
Estelle suddenly asked, “Oh, right, are you hungry? I’ll make you some burritos. You used to love them when you were little.”
Raymond replied, “Thank you, Estelle. Agnes and I actually came here just to eat your burrito.
“We’ll have the same as before, with double portion of eggs and bacon. One with sauce, one without.”
Agnes’s eyes filled with surprise. After all this time, this jerk still remembered that she liked hers without
sauce.
Countless questions filled her mind. Raymond, how can you be such a jerk and yet know my favorites so well?
Estelle wiped her tears and happily went into the kitchen, skillfully making the burritos.
As she worked, she chatted with them outside.
“You two were so naughty when you were kids. I remember there was a plum tree in my yard.
“You always snuck in. Raymond would climb the tree to pick the fruit, and Agnes would pick them up
from below.
“That tree was so tall, I was so scared. I would secretly watch from the side every time. Only after you finished would I come out and scold you.”
Raymond and Agnes both wanted to laugh. That really did sound like something they would do as kids.
Estelle continued, “But you were also very good kids. You never took the fruit for free.
“Every time, you cleaned my yard before leaving. Now the yard is abandoned, only that tree is still there.
“Sigh, I’m old now, I can’t look after it anymore.”
Raymond proposed, “Estelle, how about Agnes and I help you clean up the yard tomorrow? I want to go
see that date tree, too.
Estelle eagerly agreed. “Sure! You’re welcome at my house anytime. I’ll make you something delicious.
After Raymond and Agnes finished the burritos, they walked around some more. The two of them talked
about many things from the past.

Agnes knew Raymond was doing this on purpose to fix their relationship, and it was actually working a
little.
That night, Raymond sent Agnes Back to southern–style courtyard and asked her to come again tomorrow.
She wanted to refuse, but she had already promised Estelle she would help clean the yard.
If she didn’t go, Estelle would be disappointed. She told herself it was just this one time, and in the future, she could just visit Estelle on her own.
Raymond stood at the door, unwilling to leave før a long time. He wanted to stay with Agnes a bit longer, but she clearly had no intention of letting him in.
“Get some rest. I’ll come pick you up tomorrow.”
“Okay.”
Under the moonlight, Raymond looked at Agnes with deep feelings. The urge to kiss her was getting stronger and stronger.
But Agnes didn’t look up. She just said good night and closed the door.
After he left, Agnes stayed behind the door, watching his car drive away, her emotions all mixed together.
The next day, Agnes woke up early. She tidied herself up and prepared some supplements.
She also packed several pieces of embroidered clothing she made, planning to give them to Estelle.
It was almost time for Raymond to arrive, but he was nowhere to be seen.
On Raymond’s side, he was already in the car on the way to pick her up.
Ring! Ring! Ring!
A loud phone ring went off. Raymond answered the call. A worried voice on the other end said,
