Chapter 74 A Perfect Act

The doctor replied, Thank you, Ms. Young. Don’t worry—this stays between us.

“Last night, I switched your sleeping pills with vitamins. The shot I just gave you was glucose.

“Everything was handled carefully. No one suspects a thing. It looks like Mr. Newton really cares about you

this time.”

Hillary gave a soft, cold laugh. “If you want to control a man, you use his guilt. I know Raymond well. He’s loyal and values people in his life. If he sees me like this, there’s no way he’ll leave me. In fact, he’ll care

even more.”

She understood the situation clearly. As long as Raymond believed she had suffered deeply for him—both in body and mind–he would never be able to walk away from her for the rest of his life.

With that alone, Agnes had already lost.

To Raymond, Agnes was nothing more than a brief passing moment.

The doctor gave her a thumbs–up. “Ms. Young, impressive! I have to give it to you. You’re smart, your acting is top–tier, and you’re beautiful. You could easily be a top actress.

“And with someone as powerful as Mr. Newton backing you, please remember me in the future.”

Hillary laughed smugly. Being praised felt wonderful.

The night grew darker. Raymond’s car stopped in front of Agnes’s house. He called her several times, but she didn’t pick up.

He looked at the house. The lights were on. He knew she was home; she just didn’t want to answer.

He walked to the door and rang the bell. A moment later, the door opened. Agnes stood there, slightly surprised.

“Why are you here?”

Raymond apologized. “I’m sorry. Something urgent came up today. I just came to let you know.”

Agnes nodded calmly. “I know. You already called this morning.”

Raymond studied her face. “Are you… upset?”

Agnes shook her head. “No. Why would I be? Estelle didn’t get to see you. She was a little disappointed. You can visit her another day.”

Her tone was calm, almost indifferent. She didn’t question him, didn’t seem angry, didn’t even ask what had happened. For some reason, that made Raymond feel uncomfortable.

go see Estelle with you next time,” he said quickly. “I won’t cancel again.”

Agnes gazed at him with soft eyes, but her expression remained distant.

“Agnes, don’t do this,” Raymond said, his voice tense. “I know I neglected your feelings before. But you never complained. Why now-”

“I did complain,” Agnes cut in quietly. “You just didn’t notice. I got used to your coldness.” She stepped back. “It’s late. You should go. I’m going to rest. Oood night.”

Before Raymond could say anything else, the door closed. He stood there, his chest tight with frustration.

The next day, Agnes received a call from Neal.

He had found some information about the person who attacked Her at Rebecca’s house.

They agreed to meet at a restaurant.

Neal arrived early, feeling a mix of excitement and anticipation.

Soon. Agnes walked in. Neal stood up and politely pulled out a chair for her.

The restaurant had no menu. Every dish was a seasonal set chosen by the chef.

Neal smiled. “I heard this place is great. I’ve never been here before. I thought it would be nice to try it with you.”

As soon as Agnes stepped inside, she noticed how different it felt. The place was small, like a quiet courtyard house. The decor was elegant–dark wood furniture, fine porcelain, and classic artwork on the walls.

“It’s really nice here,” Agnes said. “I like it.”

Neal’s heart lifted. He was glad she liked the place he had chosen for her.

“Good,” he said with a soft smile. “We can come again next time.”

“Thank you, Neal.” Agnes paused, then got straight to the point. “What did you find about the attacker?”
