Chapter 8 What Is She Thinking?
“Raymond! Raymond! Raymond?!”
Finished
Hillary shouted after him in a panic. But she still had an IV needle in her haird, so she couldn’t chase him.
She bit her lower lip as tears filled her eyes. If Agnes hadn’t suddenly shown up and taken him away, things wouldn’t have turned out like this.
Raymond would never have given up on her. This was all Agnes’s fault.
Her eyes suddenly landed on the bouquet Agnes had left on the bedside table. She frowned.
What kind of flowers were these? She hadn’t paid attention earlier She picked them up and looked closer.
Yellow roses. Why would Agnes send her yellow roses?
Hillary quickly pulled out her phone and searched for their meaning. She was shocked to learn that yellow roses could symbolize jealousy and greed.
Her face turned red with anger. Agnes, you crazy bitch! I’m going to kill you!
Hillary grabbed the bouquet and threw it out the window.
Downstairs, Raymond had just stepped outside the hospital entrance. He suddenly noticed a bouquet lying on the ground nearby.
It was the same bouquet he and Agnes had bought earlier. He recognized it immediately.
His expression darkened slightly as he looked up toward Hillary’s hospital window.
Agnes felt refreshed all day. Her mood was great. She looked at the large ruby ring on her finger.
The gemstone sparkled brightly in the sunlight. It looked beautiful–so different from the dull life she had been living before.
From now on, she would stop living for other people. She would live for herself.
She put the ring back into its box and checked the time. 3:30 p.m.
Usually at this hour, she would have just come back from the grocery store and started preparing dinner for Raymond.
Many times she would fill the table with food, only to realize he wasn’t coming home at all.
Sometimes she didn’t even know if what she felt for him was love… or just obsession.
But now it was all over. Agnes grabbed her purse, changed her clothes, and got ready to go out. Shopping. Eating. Enjoying life.
She walked downstairs and passed through the living room when someone called her from behind.

She Turned around. Linda was standing there. Unlike before, she no longer looked arrogant. Instead, she looked careful and obedient.
Maybe she was still scared after seeing Agnes slap Raymond a few days ago.
“Mrs. Newton, are you going out?“Linda asked.
“Yes. What’s up?”
“Well… usually at this time you start preparing dinner for Mr. Newton. And he said he’ll be staying home these next few days.”
Agnes looked at her calmly. “What exactly are you all here for?”
“Huh?” Linda froze, confused.
“Cooking and cleaning is your job,” Agnes said. “Why else do the Newtons pay you? To sit around?”
Linda hesitated. “But Mrs. Newton… Mr. Newton is very picky. He only likes the food you make.”
Agnes shrugged. “That’s not my problem. Not everyone gets to eat my cooking.”
Linda’s heart started pounding. A thin layer of sweat formed on her forehead.
She didn’t dare offend Raymond, but she couldn’t upset Agnes either.
“Listen,” Agnes continued. “If you don’t know how to cook, then learn. If you still can’t cook well, keep practicing until you can.
“From today on, don’t ask me to cook. I’m leaving.”
“Mrs. Newton…?”
But Agnes had already walked out, swinging her purse casually. Linda could only stare after her in shock.
Agnes went to the most famous shopping district in Grandridge. She got her hair done, had a spa treatment, and even got a manicure.
Then she went shopping and ate all kinds of delicious food. She played around until night fell.
The streets were crowded with cars and people. Yet a faint sadness slowly crept into her heart.
In this huge world, she had no family. No friends. Even her marriage was about to end.
She was completely alone. For a moment, it felt like the whole world had forgotten her.
She walked slowly down the street and eventually arrived at a long avenue.
Neon lights glittered everywhere, bright like a palace. The street was full of noise and laughter.
Only then did she realize that both sides of the street were lined with bars.
Curious, she walked into one of them and ordered a drink.

She Thinking?
Flushed
The cocktail glowed with a soft blue light. It looked beautiful and a little mysterious.
She took a small sip. Sweet and sour… with a slight burn. Not bad.
Agnes sat at the bar, sipping her drink while watching people dance wildly under the flashing lights.
So this is what bars are like. They’re actually pretty fun.
At the Newton mansion…
Raymond came home unusually early that day. But Agnes wasn’t there. After asking Linda, he learned that she had gone out.
In the past, whenever he came home, Agnes would wait at the door for him.
She would help him take his coat and bag. He had already grown used to it.
But today she wasn’t there. He had even told Linda that he would be staying home for the next few days. What was she doing?
At the hospital this morning, she had even said she would wait for him tonight.
It felt like she had stood him up. Raymond felt both annoyed and strangely disappointed.
He held his phone for a moment, thinking about calling her. Then he set it back on the table.
At that moment, Linda and the other servants brought the dishes to the table.
“Mr. Newton, dinner is ready.”
“Mm.”
Raymond picked up his utensils and took a bite of fish. His brows immediately tightened.
Then he tried a piece of potato. His expression grew even worse.
Finally, he took a sip of soup. A second later, he slammed the spoon down.

“Why does everything taste so bad? Who cooked this?”
Linda’s legs began shaking. Oh no. Mr. Newton is angry.
“Mr. Newton, the dishes were made by the chef we hired. If you’d like, I can ask him to cook again.”
