“Mami, Dom,” Alana said, and I looked at her curiously.
“Who is Dom, my love?” I asked as I made her sit on my lap to style her other pigtail.
“Dom, sleep.” Noah made a sweeping gesture, and I looked at him, confused.
“They’ve been saying it since they woke up this morning, that they saw Dom and that he sleeps. They both say it, with their little half–tongues. You know you have to listen to them carefully to understand what they’re saying, they’re so cute.” Tino watched them fondly.
“If you see Dom again, and I’m around, introduce me to him, okay?” I told my children, wondering who he could be. The fact that they mentioned him after seeing him yesterday intrigued me; they didn’t usually do that with other people.
“Bye!” they both said and ran off to play after they were ready.
“I’m sure it’s some new little friend they met in Seattle. Seattle,” he sighed, “where they filmed Fifty Shades. I’ve loved that city ever since I saw it in the movie. We have to travel there.” He pointed at us. “Anyway, I was saying, I’m sure it was a baby, because of that whole ‘he was sleeping‘ thing,” Tino said, and although I was somewhat curious, what my friend said made sense.
“Sweetheart,” my father entered my room since the door was open, and the children ran to hug him as soon as they saw him. “How are the little king and the beautiful queen of the house?” He lifted them both, and they looked happy as their grandfather spoiled them. “Honey, they just sent an email. You have to go back to the UK. The board wants details on the project. You’ll be in the UK for a little over a week, depending on how long it takes you,” he said.
“Yes, I just saw the email. I’ll get the trip ready and schedule the meetings and presentations with my team,” I stated, and he nodded.
“Have you been able to find out anything about the fire?” I asked. All the girls were at home and excited about their new home. Some, like Jenn and her baby, still needed care, and we were taking care of it.
“Yes, we have something. It wasn’t arson, but knowing that the old house was a death trap, the lawyer was already working with an investigator. We’ll take care of it, sweetheart.”
“Thank you, Dad.”
“I’ll take these little ones to breakfast.” He took them with him.
“Come on, your dad is quite the charmer. How come your mother hasn’t fallen at his fee?
“I don’t know, but I think the fact that my father has stopped insisting is making her day attention to him now. It seems like they like to play cat and mouse I don’t know sometimes r seems like they’re my children and not the other way around. I sighed.
“Oh my God, Tino!” I threw a pillow at him. He groaned when he felt the slow Ast of sacra laugh, and I bit my lip. I didn’t want to think about Tino’s statement.
In the afternoon, Nick came for the children.
I hugged my little ones, who seemed very willing to spend time with their father
“Come on, it looks like the hottie hasn’t had a good day,” Tino said when he saw them eared and I could only see the same serious face on Nick, which only changed when he looked at the children. He stared at me before getting in the car.
“Aly, we have to finish your dress. We know we still don’t know if that wedding is going to happen, but it’s better to have the dress ready, Ash said, and Tino agreed. I admitted they were right.
“First, I have to talk to Erika and Ignacio to organize the trip and the meetings in the UK M with you as soon as I’m done, Ash. While I’m gone, could you take care of the project, along with Antonio, Carolina, and Will?” I smiled.
“Okay,” she said reluctantly, and I laughed.
“Well, that’s settled. I’ll take care of the collection,” Tino said, and I hugged them. After spending several hours in the office talking to the engineers and my assistants, we managed to organize the work for the next few days so that everything will be ready for Monday, which was the day we were traveling. I would only take Lai to red me with the children, and I remembered that I had to inform Nick about the and because of ten.
“Sylvia, please, when you see Mr. Garnett, tell him I need to speak with him.” I sac Ste nodded. I went up to Ash’s room to try on my wedding dress so they could keep working on it.
“I’m dying for this dress. It’s a dream,” Tino said as I observed my refection in the mirror.
I didn’t realize how much time had passed when I got a call.
“Nick”
“You wanted to talk to me,” he said in a strong voice as he looked at my face and avoided looking at the dress.
“Yes, I’m taking the kids to the UK for almost two weeks. I wanted you to know. We’re leaving on Monday.” He nodded and didn’t say anything else. He looked at my dress again with displeasure and then took a step to get very close to me. I couldn’t back up. His breath caressed my face before he stepped aside and walked away from me. I smoothed the skirt of my dress and felt a strange sensation in my stomach. I felt like my mind was playing tricks on me, but I ignored those thoughts. I walked back to the room and waited for Ash and Tino to finish for the day.
“Good morning,” Nick replied, and in passing, he met Sondra, who was stunned when Nick stood up.
“I have to go. I have a meeting in a little over an hour,” I explained to Nick.
“Okay, I’ll go with you,” he said confidently, and took the children’s hands.
“Shall we go?” He looked at our children.
“Yeah!” Noah jumped up and down, and Alana gave a beautiful smile. Not having the weapons to fight those expressions of affection towards Nick, I allowed him to come with us. Thinking that I would have to see him for the rest of my days, I grumbled.
“Let’s go, Loli. Sondra, I think we’ll eat out. We’ll be back at dinner time.”
“Yes, ma’am,” she said. She looked at Nick again with some shyness, and he nodded at her.
We left the house, and I saw that Nick had rented a luxury car to get around. However, it didn’t have the car seats the children had to use, so he would follow us. We arrived at the parking lot of the building, which was in the outer zone, and got out of the cars. Nick looked at the building and went over to take the hands of the children, who led him inside, followed by Loli. Once I got out of the car, I ran into the owner of a nearby restaurant I used to go to.
“Alaia, I’m so glad to see you.” She hugged me.
“Where are the children?‘ I turned in their direction, and she looked over there. “But who is the handsome man accompanying them?” she asked, looking at Nick, who was standing in the doorway waiting for me. The children continued on their way with Loli.
‘He’s the children’s father,‘ I said in a low voice.
“Of course, now that I’ve gotten a good look at him, well, he looks just like precious Noah,” she said.
“I’ll wait for you at the restaurant. Come on, I won’t charge you anything if you bring the Hollywood heartthrob. She was being flirtatious.
“Rosa.” I said, and she laughed.
“Come on, I’ll see you later. I’ll get your favorite dish ready.” She gave me two kisses and left. I took my purse and, still smiling, walked around the car to go to the door. That’s when I heard the tires of a car screech, and I looked up to realize it was coming straight at me.
