Estimating that Di Mingchen should have left, Nangong Ran finally stood up, but because she had been sitting for too long, she stumbled and fell to the ground.
Around this time, most of the students had gone to the cafeteria to eat, with a few passing by, curiously looking at her sitting on the ground.
Nangong Ran sat on the ground for quite a while before she had the strength to stand. That kind of pain, as if abandoned by the whole world, spread within her heart.
A pain she had never experienced before made her feel as if her whole body was being crushed.
She didn’t know how she walked out of the school or how she got home, she only knew that when she arrived home, Li Hui looked at her with extreme surprise and immediately asked, "Why are you back? Where’s Mingchen?"
Li Hui said while looking outside, "Didn’t you come back together?"
"Mom." Nangong Ran looked at Li Hui, and as soon as she called out, she couldn’t help but hug Li Hui.
Li Hui was startled, "Oh dear, what’s going on, why are you so enthusiastic?"
"I just wanted to hug you." Nangong Ran held onto Li Hui, not wanting to let go, just looking for some comfort.
"What’s wrong?" Li Hui’s tone softened, and she asked, "Weren’t you going for a check-up today? Don’t tell me there’s something wrong with your health?"
"No." Nangong Ran shook her head, "I just missed you, Mom, I haven’t hugged you like this in a long time."
Li Hui was taken aback for a moment, then a smile slowly appeared on her lips as she hugged Nangong Ran back, teasing, "Aren’t you too grown up to be wanting hugs, how embarrassing!"
Nangong Ran didn’t reply.
Li Hui gently patted her, "Alright, alright, what’s going on? If there’s nothing wrong with your check-up, does that mean you passed?"
"It’s nothing." Nangong Ran hurriedly wiped her tears, "I just can’t bear to part with you."
"No worries, as long as I can bear to let you go!" Li Hui laughed heartily, taking a deep breath and joking, "From now on, someone’s finally going to clean up this mess!"
Hearing this, Nangong Ran’s eyes reddened even more, indeed, it really was a mess.
Afterwards, Nangong Ran stayed at home, originally planning not to have dinner but afraid of giving herself away, she managed to finish eating reluctantly. After dinner, she insisted on not leaving, using the excuse of saying goodbye to her girlhood to retreat into her room.
Li Hui blinked, finding it a bit odd, but considering the girl might have a bit of an artistic side, she just let it be.
Back in her room, Nangong Ran closed the door, shutting herself off from the outside world, and only then did she realize how cold she felt all over...
