Di Mingzhe blinked gently, and only then did Di Xiaxia react, suddenly feeling extremely embarrassed!
She really just had a bit of obsessive-compulsion to see if the thing under his eyelid was dirt or a mole, she hadn’t expected to be ’caught’ in such an awkward posture.
He wouldn’t think that her deep gaze at this moment implied some ulterior motive, would he?
Feeling embarrassed, Di Xiaxia hastily tried to withdraw her hand, but before she could even move, he suddenly grabbed her hand.
His reaction was much faster than hers.
"Uh..." Di Xiaxia was dumbfounded, completely at a loss for how to explain this situation that could so easily be misunderstood.
She truly didn’t mean it that way.
Even though it was hard to explain, she still had to. Di Xiaxia hurried to compose some words to explain to him that her gazing at him, even reaching out to him, was simply to see if there was anything dirty on his face!
But before her stammering words could come out of her mouth, she saw his lips curl into a slight smile.
Exuding a leisurely and unhurried manner, he gently guided her hand to his own cheek.
Di Xiaxia became even more flustered, completely caught off guard by his deep affection...
While she... didn’t intend it that way at all.
His large hand guided hers across his cheek, with an intimacy that began to wander over his striking features, as tender as the most cherished touch between lovers.
And his deep eyes were locked on her, tightly, unwilling to shift away even a bit.
As he spoke, he reached out and pulled her into his arms, tightly, yet skillfully avoiding her injured hand.
Suppressing the pain in his heart, Di Mingzhe sighed silently, his pride crumbling bit by bit.
He told himself, just this once, this final time, to lower his dignity, to cast aside his pride, and beg her once.
He held her in his arms, a whole person, warm, petite, and fragile. Yet, he could not feel her presence.
For he knew, even though she was quietly nestled in his embrace without resistance, her heart was not with him!
Sometimes people can be so contradictory, their bodies right beside each other, yet they feel an unprecedented distance between them.
