"Morning. I’m alright now," Di Xiaxia replied. "My cast was taken off two weeks ago, and after all the nourishment from bone broth, I’m back to gaming. My operation skills are on point."
"Really?" Gu Qibao said excitedly, "That’s excellent news. Congratulations."
"Thanks." Di Xiaxia responded, "By the way, did you call because you needed something, Sister-in-law?"
"I wanted to invite you for a session." Gu Qibao, legs swinging from her spot on the bed, said, "I start school the day after tomorrow, but I still haven’t decided my major. So, I was planning to hang out with you guys, hoping it would spark some inspiration."
"Uh, does that usually work?" Di Xiaxia asked with surprise.
"Yes." Gu Qibao replied solemnly, "Tonight at 7. Meet me at Dihai Lantian. No excuses."
"Alright, Cool." Di Xiaxia nodded, readily agreeing.
Just as she was about to end the call, she heard Gu Qibao asking, "So, Sister Xiaxia, how are things going with your older brother? When will you be treating me to a wedding feast? I promise to bestow a hefty red envelope."
Hearing those words, Di Xiaxia scowled instantly, responding irritably, "There’s nothing going on, absolutely nothing."
"What happened?" Sensing something off in her tone, Gu Qibao hurriedly asked.
"Sigh." Di Xiaxia inhaled deeply, tears threatening to spill. "Let’s not talk about it. It’s been quite some time since my brother even acknowledged me."
"Huh?" Gu Qibao on the other end of the line almost jumped from shock, hastily saying, "Sister Xiaxia, you can’t be serious. How could he possibly ignore you? Not you, of all people."
Not you, of all people, echoed in Di Xiaxia’s heart, bringing a pang of heartache. Yes, she’d thought the same.
But the reality wasn’t as such.
"Did you guys have a fight?" Gu Qibao asked suddenly.
"I don’t think so." Di Xiaxia shook her head. "Since we returned, he’s been distant. I tried talking to him a few times, but he’s always too busy."
