Dan Lingling forced a smile, "Yes, I know, I was just making small talk, Secretary Gu, don’t be so nervous."
Gu Mian didn’t respond, but quietly nodded, opening the door to the conference room, "Let’s go, Miss Lingling, the others are waiting."
...
After school, Di Xiaxia couldn’t help feeling anxious. She wanted to call Di Mingzhe, but guessed that he wouldn’t be by his phone at this moment.
Unable to think of a better solution, she simply went back home with Di Jinxuan, knowing that Di Mingzhe would contact her once he was free.
As lunchtime approached, Di Xiaxia did indeed receive a call from Di Mingzhe.
Picking up the phone, Di Mingzhe’s pleasant voice came through gently, "I have a social engagement tonight, and will come home late. Can you eat alone?"
"Mm," Di Xiaxia nodded, "I’m at the Di’s house. You don’t have to worry about me."
"Good girl," A hint of amusement colored Di Mingzhe’s voice.
Nevertheless, Di Xiaxia suddenly became flustered, "Brother, I called you this afternoon and your junior sister answered."
There was a two second silence on the other end of the phone before Di Mingzhe replied, "I know. It’s not a problem."
Di Xiaxia finally let out a sigh of relief, nodding, "Then carry on with your work, I’ll wait for you."
"Alright." Di Mingzhe hung up the phone, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"Sir," Gu Mian entered, formally reporting, "The reception banquet will start at 7 o’clock."
"Mm, understood." Di Mingzhe nodded, then instructed, "Have Dan Lingling come to my office."
Gu Mian was momentarily stunned, then bowed his head in acknowledgement, "Yes."
