At that moment, Gu Qibao was having her blood drawn when her phone rang, and Nangong Ran picked it up for her.
As soon as Nangong Ran saw who it was, he got excited, "Damn, it’s a call from your Duke!"
Gu Qibao’s heartbeat sped up instantly, thumping rapidly, as if it was about to leap out of her chest.
She felt a mix of nervousness, excitement, and sweetness—an absolute jumble of emotions.
It was her Duke!
Yet, with the nervousness came a twinge in her nose and the urge to cry.
Nangong Ran slid the phone to answer and held it to her ear.
"Hello," Gu Qibao spoke softly, her voice trembling uncontrollably.
Di Mingjue, on the other side, felt relieved to hear her answer the call.
"Baby..." he uttered softly with a tenderness he had never shown before.
"Mhm." Gu Qibao was actually kind of choked up, her throat aching.
Hearing her slightly choked voice, Di Mingjue became anxious immediately and asked hastily, "Where are you? Your husband is coming to find you."
"Actually, you don’t need to rush over right now," Gu Qibao pouted, feeling somewhat blushed, and whispered, "It’s not completely confirmed yet."
"How can I not come when my wife is in the hospital?" said Di Mingjue softly. "No matter what it is, I’m coming right away. Be good, tell your husband which hospital you’re at, I’ll be right there."
Gu Qibao was somewhat moved, and at this moment, she really wanted to share this joy with him, so she gave him the name and address of the hospital, as well as her location.
"Okay, your husband knows now. Wait there for me; I’ll be right there," said Di Mingjue.
"Mhm." Gu Qibao nodded and whispered in reply, "I got it, I’ll hang up now."
"Drive safely on the road."
Yet his heart was still filled with excitement, and after a moment of thought, he instructed Lan Feng, "Go and withdraw some cash later, and get 520 red envelopes."
"Yes," Lan Feng nodded. "Are the red envelopes for distribution at the hospital?"
"Right." Di Mingjue smiled, a smile that was so brilliant and natural, "That’s only proper."
Lan Feng looked at him, admiration welling up from the deepest part of his heart. The usually cold and irritable CEO, deep inside, was truly kind, wasn’t he?
This gentle version of him seemed a bit incompatible with his past coldness, but there was no sense of incongruity.
Looking at him, he even had the vibe of a Dad-to-be, that sense of happiness radiating from inside, so intense that even Lan Feng could feel it.
"Also," Di Mingjue added, "find the nearest florist to the hospital online, and order a bouquet for my wife, 520 flowers."
"Yes." Lan Feng replied, swiftly taking out his phone to search.
