Chapter 317
“Don’t worry. There’s no way I will let you go to prison!” William declared.
He froze as soon as the words left his mouth.
William had always been cold and detached. He was the kind of man who would step over a dying person and simply continue on his way. Aside from his niece and nephew, he had never helped anyone. To him, everyone else was expendable.
Yet now, upon hearing I was in trouble, William had rushed back to Lestoria without leaving word behind. Not only that, he had even made me that promise.
Realizing his emotions had slipped, William’s gaze turned frosty.
“I’ll help you one last time, for Noah’s sake. And I hope after this, you’ll stay away from your ex–husband. Otherwise, don’t say I didn’t warn you if you end up in a worse situation next time,” he added.
Then, he got up and left without waiting for a reply.
His words were harsh, but I knew he meant well. I also knew he was a good uncle.
William was willing to help me out of my current situation because his love for Noah had extended to me. So, there was no telling the lengths he would go to for his nephew.
I had just returned to my cell after William left when I had another visitor.
This time, it was Irvin.
The moment I met his eyes, I knew he had recovered his memory. He didn’t even need to say a word.
Irvin didn’t look different outwardly, but he wasn’t the same man he had been when he had amnesia. Now that his memory had been restored, their weight affected how he carried himself.
When a person truly loved someone, they would notice even the slightest change in them.
So, I couldn’t help but wonder how Irvin didn’t believe I had amnesia. If he truly loved me, why couldn’t he tell I had lost my memory before?

How could he claim to truly love me and yet had not visited me once in the three months I was hospitalized? Why had Irvin been so certain I had been pretending to be injured?
His past actions and behavior made me feel he never actually loved me. Yet, each time I came to this con thought would creep in.
If Irvin didn’t love me, then why had he been willing to die for me? And repeatedly too?
on, another
I never liked being indecisive or feeling conflicted. Yet, because of his inconsistent behavior, I couldn’t make up my mind about
him.
It was like Irvin was put in my life just to mess with me.
I was a law–abiding citizen. Yet, I had been taken into police custody twice, and both times it was because of him.
“Babe…” Irvin called out of habit and reached for my hand.
But then, he seemed to think twice about it and quickly retracted his hand.
“Don’t worry, babe. I swear I won’t let anything happen to you. You’ll be out of here soon!” he declared.
I had to get proof that Grace had been having issues with her pregnancy. Regardless, it would be beneficial for me to have this
information.
With this in mind, I leaned forward and quietly said, “Look into Grace’s baby. I suspect she already knew she had to terminate

her pregnancy. That’s why she dared to do what she did.”
“Yeah, I suspect the same too. I’m already looking into it,” Irvin replied.

Grace had genuinely been in a lot of pain on the way to the hospital And now that he had regained his memories, Irvin remembered how Timothy had given his life for him. He also recalled Timothy asking him to look after Grace and his unborn
son.
However, he knew there was no way I would ever shove a pregnant woman. So, despite all this, Irvin still didn’t believe Grace when she claimed she didn’t intend to frame me.
Because in a situation like that, if I hadn’t pushed her, then she had thrown herself on purpose–meaning she had been trying to frame me.
Grace was midway through her second trimester. So, even if she wanted to harm me and didn’t care about what happened to her child, she would still care about her own body.
Unless the child couldn’t be carried to term and she would need to undergo an induced termination, there was no way Grace would use her unborn son as a means to an end.
Hence, Irvin had immediately thought something had been wrong with the baby too.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Grace looked up as William entered her room.
She couldn’t help chuckling before saying, “You must care a lot about the woman your nephew likes, Mr. Ashford, to drop everything for her.”
