As wkening Love Reborn to Be His Duchess
Chapter 811 The Ticking Clock
Before leaving, Elowen leaned over to tuck the blankets snug around them.
Florstec
Stepping out of the warm pavilion, the freezing night wind hit her face. The tenderness in her eyes recoded,, replaced by a sharp, calculating clarity.
She originally intended to head straight to the Princess Royal’s manor.
But halfway down the corridor, a thought brought her to a halt.
A moment later, she changed her course for Noah’s quarters.
Noah sat by the lantern, organizing his medical kit.
Seeing Elowen enter, he offered a bright smile. “Ella. By the look of it, you are heading out?”
Elowen nodded. “I need to make a trip to the Princess Royal’s manor.”
Noah placed a roll of silver needles into the kit.
Elowen continued. “Darius was captured in a rush. With the disaster at Oracle Peak, if Malkor wants to silence loose ends, Darius will be his primary target. Even if Malker’s assassins cannot breach the manor tonight, Darius himself might not wish to live.”
Noah looked up.
Elowen’s gaze hardened. “His throat was ruined upon capture, making speech near impossible. If he is determined to die, the guards might not notice in time. With you coming along, Grandfather, we might extract answers before it is too late.”
Noah siniled in approval. “Then let us go.”
The carriage raced out of the inn.
The Princess Royal’s manor was heavily guarded, the perimeter bristling with armored soldiers and blazing
torches.
Valessa was clearly still awake.
Draped in a dark cloak, she came out to receive them in person.
She looked far more exhausted than she had during the day, yet a fierce, unyielding resolve burned in her
eyes.
“Lady Elowen.”
Elowen cut to the point. “How is Darius?”
Valessa’s face darkened. “I interrogated him. His throat is ruined; his speech is nothing but garbled noise. and he refuses to write a single word. No matter what I ask, he will not give up a single detail”
Elowen asked, “Has he attempted to end his own life?”

Valessa paused, answering with a grim nod. “Yes”
Á flash of fury crossed her eyes. “He tried to smash his head against the wall while the guards were distracted. Thankfully, they stopped him in time. I have had his hands and feet bound and his ya dislocated. I will not give him another chance to die”
Noah didn’t hold back his praise. “Sharp as a tack, Ella. You predicted it
Elowen offered a sheepish smile before asking, “And Ronan?”
Valessa’s tone turned glacial. “He is still unconscious,”
Elowen noted, “He will likely be a tougher nut to crack.”
Valessa rubbed her temples. “Tougher? That is putting it mild. He hasn’t woken up at all. The physician examined him; the severe shock and the venom ravaging his heart meridian make his recovery entirely
uncertain.”
Noah looked highly amused. “Unconscious? That might make him easier to break.
Valessa stared at him in shock. “What do you mean by that?”
Noah tipped his chin forward. “Lead the way?”
Without further questions, Valessa guided them straight to the rear courtyard,
Ronan was imprisoned in a fortified secret chamber deep within the estate.
Two full squads of elite guards secured the perimeter, and the heavy door was fastened with three massive iron locks.
Valessa unlocked the door herself.
A single oil lamp illuminated the stifling room.
Ronan lay on a stone bed. His face was a sickly, ashen gray, his lips cracked and bleeding, his brows knit tight even in his comatose state.
Noah checked Ronan’s pulse and peeled back his eyelids for a closer look.
“The venom dealt massive damage, but he will not die tonight. His mind is shattered by extreme terror, leaving his soul unstable. That makes this the perfect moment to extract the truth”
Valessa frowned. “But he is unconscious. How can he answer?”
Noah extracted a long, needle-thin piece of silver from his kit, followed by a tiny silver bell
The bell was no larger than a thumb. As the clapper swayed, the chime was so faint it bordered on salent

medicinal incense.
The fragrance bloomed, shrouding the bed like a thin mist.
Noah’s voice dropped to a slow, hypnotic cadence, “Ronan.”
The man on the bed didn’t react.
The silver bell chimed softly.
“Ronan. Can you hear me?”
Ronan’s eyelids fluttered a fraction.
Valessa’s breath caught in her throat.
Noah raised a hand, signaling her to remain silent. “Where are you right now?”
Ronan’s throat bobbed. Trapped deep within a nightmare, his voice was a garbled, desperate slur.
“Dark… it is so dark…”
Noah asked, “Who do you see?”
