Chapter 120 My Greatest Achievement

I moved slightly under the sheets, my mind slow to catch up with the morning. For a moment, I just lay there, staring at the ceiling.
However, the scent of delicious food pulled me out of my head.
I turned my head slightly toward the door, my lips curving without me realizing it.
A small breath left me as I sat up slowly, pulling the sheets around me before eventually getting up. I was already clean–he always made sure of that. It was something I never thought I would get used to, but here I was.
I was completely spoiled by him.
Back then, I used to wake up early just to prepare meals. Now, I woke up to someone cooking for me.
I walked out of the room, following the scent, and found him in the kitchen, his bare back turned toward my direction.
I stood there for a while, admiring the view. Then I walked closer and wrapped my arms around his abdomen, pressing my cheek lightly against his back.
“Hmm.” he hummed, his hand immediately coming up to rest over mine before sliding up to my hair.
He caressed it gently.
“You can sit,” he said with a small smile, glancing back at me. “Breakfast is nearly ready.”
I nodded without letting go immediately, taking in the warmth of him for a second longer before finally stepping back.
Then I climbed onto the counter, settling there comfortably as I watched him move around the kitchen.
My gaze lingered on his back, specifically on the faint marks that trailed across his skin,
I pressed my lips together, trying not to smile too much.
“I really could get used to this,” I murmured under my breath.
Being with him brought me a kind of happiness I did not even know I was capable of feeling before.
He finished plating the food and turned to me, placing everything neatly on the counter before stepping between my legs.
“Eat,” he said, picking up a fork.
I raised a brow.
“Really?”

He continued holding the fork up. I rolled my eyes slightly but leaned forward anyway, letting him feed
We ate like that, talking in between bites, shifting from one topic to another without effort.
“How’s Marcus doing?” I asked.
Tristan paused slightly, raising a brow at me.
“You’re interested in him?” he asked.
I immediately shook my head.
“No.”
Then I added, without hesitation-
“It’s the opposite, actually. I want to hear about his suffering.
That made him chuckle.
“Well?” I pressed.
He leaned back slightly against the counter, crossing his arms.
“It was his first day yesterday,” he said. “To sum it up…”
A small smirk formed on his lips.
“I don’t think he had a good time.”
I hummed in satisfaction.
“Good,” I muttered.
Tristan glanced at me.
“Your brother needs to learn a lesson,” I added.
“That’s true,” he said.
We continued eating, the conversation flowing naturally again.
However, the more we talked, the more I found Tristan’s behavior to be strange. His movements were just slightly slower, his gaze lingering a second too long when he looked at me.
He was nervous–that was the word.
I narrowed my eyes slightly but said nothing, waiting for him to open up to himself.
We finished breakfast, and I slid off the counter, about to walk away, when he stopped me.

His hand wrapped around my wrist gently.
I turned back to him.
“What’s wrong?”

He let out a deep breath and stepped closer. Then, he took my hand and slipped something onto my ring finger.
I froze, my breath catching in the back of my throat.
“What?” I whispered, my eyes dropping to my hand.

On my ring finger was a simple ring. However, despite its simplicity, it was heavy in the best way.
“I’m not good at these things,” Tristan said, his voice quieter.
I looked up at him, and for a moment, he looked unsure.
“But I’ve been thinking about this for a long time,” he continued. “And I realized…”
He exhaled.
“…this is the greatest achievement in my life.
My chest tightened.
His gaze softened.
“You are my greatest achievement.”
My vision blurred slightly.
“I want to spend the rest of my life with you,” he said.
He knelt on one knee. I sucked in a breath, my fingers trembling slightly as I stared at him.
I pursed my lips, trying to hold everything in, trying to steady myself, but it was too much.
I stepped forward quickly, grabbing his arms.
“Get up,” I said softly.
He hesitated but eventually stood.
I cupped his face in my hands, forcing him to look at me.
“You know,” I began, my voice unsteady but clear, “for the longest time… I felt so unlucky.”
His brows furrowed slightly.
“I didn’t have parents,” I continued. “I didn’t have anyone.”

My grip on him tightened slightly.
“Until I met Kath.”
“And when I thought I finally had someone who loved me, I was wrong.”
I didn’t dare look away from his eyes.
“This year,” I said, my voice softening, “everything changed”
I smiled slightly. “Now, I’m living a life I only dreamed of before.”
My thumb brushed against his cheek.
“And I think… I had to go through all those moments,” I added. “All that pain. All that loss.”
“To get here.”
“To get to you.”
I swallowed.
“And I’m glad I endured.”
