Chapter 40 Kissing Lesson
WILLOW
“Let’s focus,” I said quickly, straightening in my seat, wanting to erase the fact that I had just been staring at his mouth. “I want to hear more about the lesson.”
His eyes darkened.
“I think we need a break,” he replied smoothly. “You’ve been studying hard.”
I gulped before I could stop myself.
“I am fine,” I insisted, forcing my gaze back to the documents in front of me. “Please continue.”
He stood up instead.
The sound of his chair sliding against the floor felt louder than it should have. My breath hitched when he rounded the table, his steps unhurried and confident.
He stopped in front of me.
I looked up at him, trying to maintain some semblance of innocence.
“What?” I asked.
He tilted his head slightly, studying me. Then he reached out.
His finger brushed lightly against my lips, pressing gently as though testing their softness. The contact was barely there, but it felt like a spark had traveled down my
spine.
“Did you know,” he said quietly, “that even though you’re married, you kiss amateurishly?”
My brain stopped functioning.
“Huh?” I managed.

His finger remained against my lips, commanding attention.
“Did Marcus not teach you well?” he continued, his voice maddeningly calm.
I swallowed.
Finished
“That’s not a bad thing, though,” he murmured. “I suppose I should just teach you properly.”
My heart slammed against my ribs.
“You are insane,” I whispered, though my voice lacked conviction.
“Am I?” he asked, and then his thumb replaced his finger, tracing the curve of my lower lip.
“Relax,” he said softly. “A lesson is a lesson.”
Before I could process what he meant, he leaned down.
The first contact was gentle.
His lips brushed against mine in the faintest touch, so light that I barely registered it. It was not a kiss meant to overwhelm.
He pulled back just slightly, his breath mingling with mine.
“Do not tense up,” he murmured. “You are overthinking.”
“I am not,” I protested weakly.
“You are.”
He kissed me again.
This time, it lasted longer.
His lips pressed to mine with more certainty, warm and firm. He moved slowly, guiding rather than demanding. I realized with humiliating clarity that I had no idea what to do.

My lips remained still for a second too long.
He withdrew a fraction of an inch.
“See?” he said softly. “Amateur.”
Heat rushed to my face.
“I-”
“Follow me.” he instructed.
And then he kissed me again.
This time, I tried to mirror him.
Frushed
I let my lips respond instead of freezing. I paid attention to the way he tilted his head slightly to deepen the contact, the way his hand moved from my chin to the back of my neck, holding me there without force, just enough pressure to keep me close.
My hands, which had been gripping the edge of the table, slowly loosened.
Without thinking, I reached up.
My fingers curled lightly around the fabric of his shirt.
He made a low sound against my mouth, sending a wave of heat through me.
“Better,” he murmured against my lips.
Then his tongue traced the seam of my mouth.
My breath trembled as I parted my lips slightly.
That was all the invitation he needed.
His tongue brushed against mine. The sensation was shocking, intimate in a way that felt far more exposing than anything else. My body reacted before my mind could catch up.

I inhaled sharply.
He deepened the kiss.
Firished
It was no longer restrained. His hand tightened slightly at the back of my neck, angling my head just enough for him to explore properly. His tongue moved against mine with confident strokes, and I felt my knees weaken.
When I hesitated, he guided me–just like how he did during our corporate lesson like a few moments ago. It was what we should be doing, but instead, we ended up this
I, too, gained confidence, and I brushed my tongue against his.
My grip on his shirt tightened. I felt him shift closer, his other hand bracing against the table beside me as he leaned down further. The angle changed, and suddenly the kiss became hotter, deeper, and consuming.
A soft sound escaped me before I could stop it.
He pulled back just slightly, his lips still brushing mine.
“There,” he said quietly. “Do not be afraid of it.”
Then he captured my mouth again.
This time, I did not wait.
I let my tongue move against his more confidently, tasting him, learning the rhythm he set. His approval was immediate. His hand slid from the back of my neck down to my jaw, holding me steady as the kiss turned almost dizzying.
Time blurred.
The world outside the study ceased to exist.
There was only the intoxicating slide of his mouth against mine.
When he finally pulled away, it was slow–painfully slow.
Our lips separated reluctantly, a thin string of saliva stretched between us before

My chest rose and fell rapidly.
His gaze dropped to my mouth.
Frushed
Without a word, he lifted his thumb and wiped gently at the corner of my lips, collecting the evidence of what had just happened.
My entire body felt electric.
He did not step back. Instead, he cupped my chin lightly, tilting my face up so I had no choice but to look at him.
His eyes were darker than I had ever seen them. Along with that, it appeared he was hungry and still wasn’t satisfied.
“Now,” he said quietly, his thumb brushing once more over my lower lip, “that’s a good student.”
