Chapter 67 Be Prepared
WILLOW
“You’re making me lose my mind,” he said.
For a moment, I simply stared at him.
Finished
The dim lights of the parking area cast soft shadows across his face, emphasizing the tension in his jaw and the way his chest rose and fell slowly.
“I didn’t do anything.” I said quietly.
Tristan let out a breath that sounded suspiciously like a laugh.
“You just said I was hot,” he muttered, shaking his head.
Before I could think of a response, he opened the passenger door of his car and gestured for me to get in.
“Come in.”
I slid into the seat, still clutching my wine–stained bag, while he walked around to the driver’s side. The moment he got inside, the silence of the car wrapped around us. For several seconds, neither of us spoke.
Then I made the mistake of glancing at him, and he was already looking at me.
It felt like the air got hotter the moment our gazes met. His gaze dropped briefly to my lips. My heart immediately betrayed me by slamming against my chest.
“Tristan-”
“You really should stop saying things like that,” he murmured.
I opened my mouth to argue,
But he leaned closer, and suddenly my words got pushed back to the back of my throat.
The movement was slow at first, giving me time to stop him. His hand came up to cradle the side of my face, his fingers warm against my skin.
With that, he kissed me.
The world outside the car disappeared.
His lips were warm and firm, the kiss deepening immediately without a second to spare.
My breath caught in my throat. I grabbed the front of his shirt without thinking, pulling him closer.
He responded instantly. One arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me toward him across the small space between the seats.
The kiss became deeper and hungrier–like neither of us had any intention of stopping.

His thumb brushed along my jaw as he tilted my face slightly, and the movement made my head spin. I kissed him back without hesitation. The action seemed to push him over the edge.
He kissed me again, slower this time but far more intense. The car filled with the sound of our breathing
My heart was racing so fast that I could barely think straight. Somewhere in the back of my mind, a small voice whispered that this was a terrible idea.
However, the rest of me did not care.
Tristan pulled back slightly. His breathing was heavy now, his chest rising and falling faster than before. Then, without warning, he leaned in again and nipped lightly at my lower lip.
The sensation made my breath hitch.
“Naughty,” he said softly.
I watched him, completely flustered. Meanwhile, he leaned back slightly, running a hand through his hair like he was trying to collect himself.
He shook his head slowly.
“I really can’t say no to you,” he muttered.
The words made warmth spread across my chest.
“Thanks for coming,” I said quietly, like we just didn’t finish making out.
He looked at me again. This time, his expression softened.
“Now you look so innocent,” he whispered to himself.
He tilted his head slightly. “Have you made up your mind? About what I told you the other night.
My stomach tightened, and I bit my lip.
Because the truth was…
I still did not know.
Everything felt so complicated.
I had just divorced Marcus.
The entire situation still felt surreal, like I had stepped out of one life and into another without fully understanding what had changed.
“I…” I hesitated.
Then I stepped back slightly in my seat.

Chapter 67 Be Prepared
The distance between us felt sudden and noticeable.
Fished
Tristan noticed immediately. He exhaled quietly and looked away for a moment before shaking his head.
“I’ll take you home.” he said.
The drive back was silent. Somehow, it didn’t feel awkward despite what had just happened.
I leaned back in my seat, watching the city lights as my mind replayed everything that had happened these past few weeks.
I glanced at Tristan briefly. His hands rested on the steering wheel, his expression calm again.
For some reason, sitting beside him like this always made me feel safe.
My eyelids began to grow heavy. That always happened when I rode in his car.
I did not know why, but I was relaxed in his presence. It felt like I could fall asleep at any moment.
I took that as a good sign.
Eventually, the car slowed and then stopped. I pursed my lips when I realized we were already in front of
my gate.
Tristan turned off the engine.
“Good night,” he said quietly.
I reached for the door, then paused, not wanting the night to end like this.
“I’m unsure,” I muttered.
The words slipped out before I could stop them.
He turned slightly toward me.
I let out a deep breath,
“It hasn’t been that long since I got out of a relationship,” I continued softly.
I glanced at him again.
“There’s a lot going on right now,” I said. “I know you already know that.”
He didn’t interrupt and continued listening.
“You probably know more about me these days than anyone else,” I admitted with a small sigh.
“I just…”
I hesitated.
