Loving The Better Brother novel Chapter 76

LLOW

Steam still lingered in the hotel room when I finished drying my hair.

Finished

The bathroom door had been open for a while, allowing the warm, misty air to drift into the rest of the room. The scent of hotel soap, clean and slightly citrusy, mixed with the scent of fresh linens. I sat at the small vanity near the window, running the towel slowly through the ends of my hair while the hairdryer hummed softly in my hand.

My skin still held a faint pink flush from the hot shower, and the white hotel robe wrapped around me comfortably. I had tied the belt twice, partly because the robe felt a little too loose and partly because I was sharing a hotel room with a man.

A very attractive man. On top of that, the very attractive man liked to tease me until I could no longer take it. Although, I knew I couldn’t escape him for the night, I was thankful for the small time I had for myself to think about what I had just agreed too.

I acknowledge that this night had been a fun one. However, it also made me feel quite impatient. He was truly a man of his word because he hadn’t touched me once since he confessed his feelings for me.

I sighed and looked around the room. I had already unpacked the small overnight bag I kept in my bag at all times in case of long workdays. It was not unusual for me to stay late at the office, and sometimes I even spent the night there.

Fortunately, that habit meant I had spare underwear and a few necessities with me.

Tristan had handed me the bathroom first when we arrived, insisting I warm up properly before anything else. I had showered quickly but thoroughly, letting the hot water chase away the lingering chill from the

ocean.

Now, he was the one showering.

The sound of the shower running behind the bathroom door had become a steady background noise while I organized our things. I had placed my bag neatly on the chair near the wall, folded the damp clothes we had worn into the ocean, and placed them inside the washing machine to be used tomorrow.

The hotel room also had two perfectly normal beds. There weren’t any cliches regarding the hotel running out of rooms with two beds like in novels.

I switched off the hairdryer and ran my fingers through my hair, letting the strands fall loosely over my shoulders. It was still damp, but my arms were starting to ache.

Just then, the bathroom door opened. I glanced up but immediately wished I had not.

Tristan stepped out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped low around his waist and nothing else.

Water still clung to his skin, sliding slowly down the lines of his chest and abdomen. His dark hair was damp, and droplets fell from the ends onto his shoulders.

My gaze moved before I could stop it.

His shoulders were broad, the muscles there twitching subtly as he lifted another towel to his head. His chest was firm, and the faint lines of his abdomen tightened when he began rubbing the towel through his hair.

I swallowedhard.

He was facing slightly away from me, and the movement of his arms made the muscles along his back flex.

There were robes in the bathroom.

I knew that because I had worn one out, which meant he had made a very deliberate decision not to wear

one.

My throat felt dry.

He continued drying his hair slowly, rubbing the towel through the dark strands while droplets of water ran down his neck and over his shoulders.

The towel around his waist stayed in place, but it sat low on his hips in a way that made it very difficult not to notice the rest of him.

I gulped quietly.

My eyes flicked up just in time to realize he had already stopped moving.

Tristan slowly lowered the towel from his hair before turning his head.

Our eyes met, then the corner of his mouth lifted. A slow, knowing smirk spread across his face.

My face grew warm.

He leaned against the edge of the dresser, still holding the towel he had used to dry his hair. The relaxed movement made the muscles in his arms tighten slightly.

Like what you’re seeing?he asked.

Your ego is enormous,I managed despite my parched throat.

His smirk deepened.

That was not a no.

I folded my arms across my chest. In hindsight, it may not have been the smartest idea because the robe shifted slightly and reminded me just how little I was wearing underneath.

His eyes flicked down for a fraction of a second before returning to my face. His smirk widened.

He pushed himself off the dresser and took a few slow steps toward me.

Every step made the towel around his waist shift slightly, and my brain became aware of how close we

were now.

He leaned closer, making me look up at him with wide eyes. I thought he was going to kiss me at that

moment.

However, he merely grabbed the comb from behind me and smiled. I just needed this.
