Loving The Better Brother
Chapter 81 Suspicions
WILLOW
“Willow!”
Serena’s voice rang sharply through the cafe.
Tin shed
I had already taken three steps toward the door when she called my name. The suddenness of it made me stop in my tracks.
In that moment. I considered ignoring her and continuing on my way.
However, curiosity got the better of me. I turned around slowly.
Serena was no longer sitting. She had stood up from the table, and the composed elegance she had worn earlier had completely disappeared.
Her face was twisted in anger. If I were being honest, she looked a little like a furious dinosaur.
I raised an eyebrow.
“What?” I asked calmly. “We’re done here, right? Or do you have anything else to say other than flaunt your money?”
Her nostrils flared slightly.
“Bitch,” she muttered under her breath.
I almost laughed.
So the mask had finally fallen off.
I leaned my weight slightly to one side and crossed my arms.
“You think you’re all that now,” she continued bitterly, “just because Tristan glanced your way?”
I sighed and shook my head.
I had no interest in continuing this ridiculous conversation.
Without another word, I turned around and started walking toward the door again.
But then Serena spoke again.
And this time, something in her tone made my steps slow.
“You better watch out, bitch.”
I stopped, but I didn’t turn around.
The cafe around us had grown strangely quiet. Serena’s voice grew colder.

“Enjoy what you have right now.”
I remained still.
“Be thankful for your pretty face.” she continued.
I raised an eyebrow slightly.
“For now.”
A faint smile appeared on my lips despite myself.
Was she complimenting me?
I shook my head slightly, amused.
However, Serena’s next statement wiped the smile right off my face.
“Kate is back in town.”
Kate?
Behind me, Serena chuckled softly.
“You’ll lose your place soon enough.”
I slowly turned my head, just enough to glance at her from the corner of my eye.
She looked incredibly pleased with herself.
“You won’t even be able to do anything about it,” she added.
Her lips curled upward.
“She went away for a while, but now that Tristan’s first love is back…”
Her eyes gleamed.
“You don’t stand a chance.”
She grabbed her bag, tossed the envelope of money back inside it, and walked past me without another
word.
The bell above the cafe door chimed as she left.
I stood there for a moment, completely still.
Kate…
Tristan’s first love?
The words echoed quietly before I shook my head.

Serena was clearly trying to get under my skin.
That was all.
Nothing more.

Unfortunately, that explanation did not help very much.
Two hours later, I was sitting at my desk in the office, having done not a single productive thing.
My laptop screen glowed in front of me, displaying the past proposals for the Zinnia line and the updated Dahlia design. I wanted to improve it even more, but my mind kept drifting back to Serena’s words.
I sighed quietly and leaned back in my chair.
She must have been lying.
It was the easiest way to shake my confidence.
Still…
Why was I thinking about it so much?
I stared at the document on the screen without really seeing it.
If Tristan had a past lover… so what?
Everyone had a past.
Even I had one.
Marcus.
I frowned slightly.
Was that really the reason this bothered me?
Or was it something else?
My fingers hovered over the keyboard as I considered the uncomfortable truth.
Was it because I was already starting to feel something for Tristan?
The thought made my stomach twist.
I bit my lip.
Before I could answer that question for myself, the office door suddenly swung open.
Andrew walked in. I exhaled slowly and looked up.

Bugshed
“Sir.” I said calmly.
He strolled into the office like he owned the place.
“Even if you are a director,” I continued, “you cannot barge into the CEO’s office like this.”
Andrew ignored the statement entirely.
“Why not?” he asked.
He walked over to the couch near the window and plopped down onto it casually. He lifted his feet and placed them directly on the coffee table.
I stared at him in disbelief.
“It’s not like Miss Florence is here,” he added casually.
I pressed my lips together. The temptation to throw something at him was very strong.
Instead, I took a slow breath.
“Do you need anything, sir?” I asked.
Andrew leaned back against the couch cushions while inspecting his nails.
