Chapter 11
I thought I had made myself clear, but the three of them still wouldn’t leave.
After the birthday party, they kept coming around, trying to convince me to change my mind, to return to the pack with them.
Skyla really had broken her leg this time. And after causing a scene, rumors spread about Hope being a bastard child, and they quickly reached our community.
I handed in my resignation and started making plans to move with Hope to another city. My boss, the principal of the institution, was reluctant to let me go.
“Ms. Forrester, you’re young, but your feedback from parents is exceptional. Are you sure about
this decision?”
I shook my head. “I’m grateful for the chance you gave me back when my hand was still damaged. But for Hope’s sake, I need a fresh start in a different environment.”
She thought for a moment before asking, “What about Dawnmere? It’s by the sea, the climate’s mild, and it’s friendly to single mothers, lone wolves, and children. You might love it there.
“I’m planning to open a branch office there, would you be interested in becoming the head of the department? I truly can’t let someone like you slip away.”
I agreed. The day before we left, Cassian came to see me.
“Paige, you don’t have to run away to another city just to escape us. You don’t have to leave your familiar pack territory.”
I smiled, looking him in the eye. “Then will you promise not to show up in front of me anymore?”
He stayed silent for a long moment before speaking in a low, pained voice.
“If… if I still wanted to do something for you… would you accept that?”
I chuckled softly, taking Hope’s hand in mine. “Thank you, Alpha, but there’s no need.”
Hope looked up. “Mom, do we still have to do something? We’re going to visit Uncle now.”
Cassian’s face froze. Yes, we were going to visit Zevius’s grave.
I brought several brands of beer and sat at the grave for a long time.
I told him I was moving to Dawnmere, that things were getting better.
My work had been recognized, and Hope was growing up well.
He would be proud of me.

Now, I imagined he could drink as freely as he wanted, no longer worrying about his health.
The next day, I took Hope to the airport. As we passed the giant screen, I saw Jaxon being interviewed.
“I owe the most to my sister,” he said with a smile. When I was an unknown artist, no company wanted to sign me.
“But my sister helped me, encouraged me, and that’s how I made it to where I am today. However, I didn’t treat her well after that. I want to say sorry to her.”
Hope pointed to the screen. “Mom, is that the Alpha who looks like you?”
I patted her head. “Let’s board the plane, sweetheart.”
When we arrived in Dawnmere, my life fell into a new rhythm. I worked hard, lived hard, and six
months later, I was promoted to branch head.
Because my students adored me, they posted clips of my lessons online, and soon old performance videos of me began to circulate.
People began asking why I hadn’t continued playing piano. Someone even leaked the story about
Skyla sabotaging my hand, making it impossible for me to play.
In no time, Skyla’s name was tarnished, becoming synonymous with villainy.
She was ostracized from the Elmbriar social scene, and the Bloodmoon Pack lost its good name in
the process.
Jaxon’s apology video resurfaced, and people learned I was the “sister” he had spoken of.
Suddenly, the public was in an uproar, and Jaxon announced a hiatus from the music industry due to poor health.
A year later, I stood on the international stage, with my students by my side, becoming a renowned
music mentor.
Though I could no longer play complex pieces, nothing could stop me from shining in my own way.
Lucien still came by frequently, leaving gifts for Hope at the door and watching from a distance as I spent time with my daughter. I had grown used to it too tired to ask him to leave anymore.
Then, one day, Cassian showed up again. He looked much older than before. He handed me a key.
“I know you’ve been saving up to fix Zevius’s house” he said. “I’ve rebuilt it.”
“Don’t refuse, just take it as my apology to you… If you like it, you can visit whenever you want.”
He hesitated.

“Also, the engagement between the Fullmoon Pack and Bloodmoon Pack is officially off.
“Lucien didn’t get the Alpha inheritance. You know his brother never liked him, so things are going to be hard for him.
“I sent Skyla away. She needs long–term psychological treatment. I’ve restored your room to how it was. If you ever want to come back to the pack, come back home, you’re always welcome.”
I shook my head.
“Thank you for restoring Zevius’s house. But I’m not coming back to the pack.”
He didn’t press further, only murmured, “I’ll always keep your room ready for you.”
In the summer, I took Hope back to the Obsidian Pack and visited Zevius’s house.
Standing at the door, it felt like time had rolled back five years, to an ordinary morning, when
Zevius had handed me a folded paper boat under the lemon tree outside.
“Try it, Paige. If you believe, it will float far.”
I smiled softly. And now, I had truly come far.
I scooped Hope up into my arms and gently pushed open the door.
“Zevius, I’m back.”
