Jasmine:
I had been waiting for this moment since morning. Ever since I found out Lucien had marked her... ever since I learned that he had started spending more time with her, I hadn’t been able to think straight.
A wolfless slave had no right to stand beside him. I don’t know what he was thinking when he marked her. This was just a bullshit excuse that he didn’t want her to run off.
And then yesterday there was that mocking smile she had given me. I felt like she was trying to show me her arrogant side. Her eyes were challenging me. How could she be this confident with her weak body?
Somehow, that made it even worse. I wanted to wipe that smile off her face.
I was on a call with my mom just a few hours ago. I had told her about Arabella accepting my challenge.
As expected, she had laughed.
"Oh, sweetheart. This slave sounds like an arrogant brat, while you? You are my Alpha girl," she had said proudly, "If something belongs to you and no one is willing to hand it over..."
"... you snatch it!" I had finished for her.
"Exactly, sweetheart."
I could almost picture her smiling on the other end of the call, "No one remembers the woman who waited. They remember the one who fought for what was hers. Once I made the same mistake, Jasmine. Don’t be me."
I could still hear the pain in her voice.
"Lucien was always mine, Mom," I had muttered.
"Then stop standing back and take what’s yours, my girl. To become a queen, one must have talent... and a pure bloodline. Pleasing the king in bed comes after that."
Her words kept echoing in my head ever since.
And now seeing Arabella standing in front of me...
Look at her!
She was smiling. Not afraid at all. I couldn’t believe it.
"The girl might want to commit suicide!" My wolf stated in amusement, and I smirked.
"You’re damn right."
With a smirk, I lunged. The silver-coated dagger sliced through the air, but Arabella didn’t even raise her hands to protect herself.
The blade grazed her forearm, leaving a thin crimson line. Due to the absence of a wolf, she couldn’t heal herself.
She hissed in pain but stood there, facing me again.
"What?" I scoffed, "Not even going to defend yourself?"
She simply looked at me, and the calm expression on her face irritated me even more. I attacked again. This time the dagger skimmed her across her shoulder before I drove my fist into her ribs. She staggered backward but somehow kept her feet beneath her.
Every time I attacked, I slashed a different part of her body, and she would stand again. A shallow cut opened across her upper arm and then another over her thigh.

"What is wrong with you? Fight me!" I snarled. She wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and looked into my eyes. I lost it.
