Lucien Volkov:
Uh. She wanted space?
She was raising her voice, arguing with me, and I couldn’t stop smiling. She was changing. My mark was working.
Every day, she became less frightened of me and a little less careful with her words. And Goddess! I loved every second of it and felt damn happy to make her piss.
She kept marching down the path without looking back.
"You’ve been giving me attitude for the last five minutes," I called after her, but she kept walking, completely ignoring me.
She didn’t even remember that I was a fucking king who was following her and she was supposed to be respectful toward me.
Damn this mate bond.
"Hey, Arabella," I called after her, "Seems like you’re planning my funeral."
She stopped abruptly and spun around as her mouth fell open.
"I ... what?" She placed her hands on her hips, "What did you say?"
"Come on. Let me take you to a healer," After reaching her, I hooked my arm through hers and forced her to walk with me.
"Healer? Why?"
"You just said you had diarrhea, so I thought... ouch!" She didn’t even let me finish as small fists started hitting my chest.
"I don’t have diarrhea!" She told me loudly, and it was hard for me to keep a straight face.
I caught both of her wrists before she could land another punch, "Enough," I tried to sound stern.
She tried to pull free, wriggling in my grip, "Stop laughing, My King! You’re annoying me."
She huffed and tried to push past me, but I sidestepped, blocking her path. She glared at me before attempting to walk around again. I caught her by the wrist and pushed her against the thick trunk of an old sycamore tree.
She went completely silent as her hazel eyes stared up at me. My arm wrapped around her waist as I lowered myself and whispered, "Done fighting?"
She swallowed hard, trying to look past me, "I ... wasn’t fighting... My King."
I wish... I wish she could call me by my name. Just once.
But I needed to be patient. She was slowly getting her confidence back, and I didn’t want to waste my hard work. I needed to take things slow, no matter if it would kill me.
She was trying hard to avoid eye contact, but then her gaze finally returned to mine. The beast inside me wanted to fuck her right there against that tree. For the first time, I couldn’t argue with him because I wanted the exact same thing.
