Margaret ignored her reaction, grinning. “Killing’s easy, actually. Just slice here with the knife-nice and slow. They’ll be dead before you know it.”
She moved the blade to Ruby’s fragile throat. It felt like she’d slit it in the next second.
The metal was icy cold.
Death had never been this close. Ruby shook all over, paralyzed with terror.
Margaret sneered at her. “You’re so scared of dying. Why’d you act so tough? Wanna be a gangster but can’t handle the risk? What a joke.”
Her cold words sounded like they came straight from hell-cruel and unforgiving.
“M-Margaret… m-my uncle’s a branch leader of the Black Dragon Gang. He’s got hundreds of men under him!” Ruby finally found her voice, desperate. “If you kill me, he’ll never let you get away with it!”
Staring down death finally got her to pipe up again.
She didn’t wanna die. Not like this.
“Oh yeah?” Margaret scoffed, her laugh full of confidence and arrogance. “I’d love to see him try.”
She tossed Ruby’s phone at her. “Call him. Go on.”
Ruby couldn’t believe it. Margaret is really that cocky? My uncle has been a gangster for over a decade-blood on his hands, a total badass.
She didn’t hesitate. She dialed his number right away.
“Uncle! Help! I’m gonna die!”
A man’s deep voice came through. “Ruby? What’s wrong You took 30 guys with you today, didn’t you?”
“They’re all beaten! Uncle, hurry! I’ve been stabbed-so much blood! I’m dying!” Ruby’s voice cracked. The wounds on her body still bleed. If she didn’t get help soon, she’d bleed out.
Nothing was more terrifying than watching herself die slowly.
“How many of ’em are there? A hundred?” The man sounded shocked. “Who the hell dares mess with the Black Dragon Gang in Capaville?
“Stay put. I’m bringing all my men right now!”
In Ruby’s uncle’s mind, the enemy must have had at least a hundred people. That’s the only way they could take down 30 of his men.
He wasn’t taking any chances-he was bringing everyone. He’d make them pay for messing with his family.
Ruby exhaled in relief after hanging up. Once her uncle arrived, she’d be safe.
Margaret can take 30 guys, sure-but hundreds? No freaking way.
Chapter 54 The Calm Before the Storm
This hillbilly totally asked for it, letting me call for backup. She’s gonna regret this big time.
Margaret could read Ruby’s mind, but she didn’t care. Now they waited.

Watching Margaret act like she was actually waiting for Ruby’s uncle to show up, Raymond frowned.
“We should leave. Her uncle’s a tough nut-hard to deal with.”
Margaret glanced at him, amused. “Scared? You can go first if you want.”
“Scared?” Raymond’s face turned dark. “I’m Raymond from the Tucker family. You think I’d be scared of some gang leader? Don’t be ridiculous!”
Raymond hated losing. Margaret’s taunt lit a fire in him. He found a spot to sit, not caring that his clothes were soaking wet.
His silver hair clung to his handsome face. He looked a mess, but a rugged, handsome mess.
The boys beside him looked at Margaret-still holding her black umbrella-and then at Raymond. Man, Tucker genes are no joke. Both siblings are drop-dead gorgeous!
Before long, a line of black vans appeared at the foot of the hill.
Men in black jumped out, weapons in hand.
People nearby scattered-they recognized the Black Dragon Gang’s cars.
Another small gang is about to get wiped out.
Gangs all over Capaville were on edge. Word had spread the Black Dragon Gang had mobilized hundreds of men.
Every gang was left wondering who’d been stupid enough to mess with them.
The crowd marched up the hill-an intimidating sight.
The rain poured harder, thunder rumbling in the distance.
It felt like something terrible was about to happen.
