114 Chapter 114 To Die By Her Hand
Perry’s POV
“You want me dead?” I smile gently at her, unfazed by her confession. After all, this isn’t the first time I’ve heard this particular wish from her lips. “Alright. But you’ll need to help me.”
I rise from my seat and walk into the bedroom, retrieving a knife before returning to her. The blade gleams as I place it in her trembling hands.
“Here. Do it.” I settle back down in front of her, close enough that I can feel the heat radiating from her skin. “Kill me if it’ll satisfy your rage. I don’t want this life if you don’t want me in it.”
I wrap my fingers around hers, guiding the weapon she holds. The intimacy of the gesture sends electricity through my veins, even in this moment.
“One swift cut.” I press the sharp edge against my throat, feeling the cool metal bite into my skin. “Or you could pierce my neck and watch me bleed out.”
Her eyes flutter with something-emotion, perhaps- and I cling to that flicker like a drowning man.
“Better yet, you could drive it straight into my heart.” I guide the tip to my chest, positioning it precisely over the organ that beats only for her. “Take it, Phoebe. Take my life. I’ve never wanted it anyway. My father wished me dead through all his tortures, but I was too damn stubborn to die. I craved revenge then, but now there’s nothing left to avenge. Only you matter.”
Without her, this pathetic existence means nothing.
“Stab me, destroy me, end me. I’ll be damned if I don’t give you exactly what you want.”
I lock eyes with her, catching another flash of feeling. It makes my pulse quicken with desperate hope.
I need to see more of her, feel more of her—even if it’s the last thing I do.
“Such a shame our time was so brief, especially since I failed to treasure you when I had the chance.”
I press my forehead against hers, breathing in her scent as I kiss the tip of her nose. Then I drive her
hand—and the blade-deep into my chest, straight toward my heart.
She gasps as warm blood spurts across her fingers. Instinct makes her jerk back, but I hold her hand firm against me.
“It’s okay. Everything’s going to be fine. It’s okay…” My voice stays steady, comforting.
When I took my revenge on my father, I severed his head with my bare hands. I remember my claws sinking into his flesh, the final rattling breath that escaped his throat. That sound filled me with pure satisfaction.
I felt complete and peaceful for the first time in years, knowing he’d died by my hand.
The same satisfaction I hope Phoebe feels now, ending my life with her own hands.
I twist the knife deeper, sending one final tremor through my heart before I collapse onto her lap. Only then does my grip loosen, freeing her bloodied hand.
The last thing I see before darkness takes me is her
emotionless face. I wish she wore a smile-the same smile I had when I ended my father’s miserable
existence.
“What do you mean?!” Flynn had just received word that Phoebe stabbed Perry, leaving the king fighting for his life.
“What’s wrong?” Timothy was about to leave when he spotted Flynn’s fury after speaking with a warrior. He could feel the rage crackling through their shared bond. “What happened?”
Flynn shot Timothy a vicious glare that made him step back instinctively. He couldn’t understand why that anger was directed at him.
“What?” Timothy raised his eyebrows. He didn’t fear Flynn-hell, he was the better fighter between them- but right now the royal beta looked downright terrifying.
“This is all your damn fault!” Flynn roared.
“And how exactly is that?” Timothy threw up his hands
in surrender. “I don’t even know what I’m supposedly guilty of. Care to fill me in before you start throwing
accusations?”
Flynn dismissed the warrior with strict orders to keep his mouth shut about the news, which only deepened Timothy’s confusion.
“Tell me what happened.”
“She tried to kill him.”
“Who?” Timothy’s brow furrowed.
The question only fueled Flynn’s rage further. “Who do you think?! That woman! Phoebe! She tried to murder
Perry!”
Timothy looked surprised, then his expression flattened. “It’s not like she’d succeed.” He shrugged casually. He knew Phoebe would make the attempt— she’d tried poisoning him before, so this wasn’t exactly shocking news.
“Perry is in critical condition, you idiot!” Flynn exploded because Timothy clearly didn’t grasp how serious this was. “They rushed him to the hospital
because Marcela couldn’t do enough!”
“What?” The blood drained from Timothy’s face. He’d assumed this was just another failed attempt by
Phoebe. There was no way she should have been able to actually take him down and stab him. “Wait, there has to be more to this story.”
“What story do you need?!” Flynn snapped because the gamma still wasn’t getting it. “I warned you she was bad news! She’s a rejected mate-that alone should tell you she’s cursed! But you and Perry kept insisting we keep her around!”
Timothy shook his head. “You and I both know better than to buy into that superstitious garbage.”
“Screw the superstitions! Can’t you see where we are now? Look what’s happened to this kingdom since she walked through those palace doors!”
Timothy wanted to argue, but he knew it was
pointless. The royal beta was beyond reason.
“Where are you going?” Timothy called as Flynn spun around to leave.
“To the hospital, to make sure that curse stays far
away from Perry!” Flynn shot back harshly.
