Chapter 119: Stripped of His Title

Perry’s Perspective

“Please, I must see the king. It’s urgent!” A woman’s desperate voice echoed at the entrance where my guards stood firm. Word had reached her that I was staying at the beach house just a short distance from her home.

“What business do you have? You can’t just demand to see the king!” my warriors snapped sharply, their irritation clear. They knew better than to bother me over trivial matters, especially when it was just one woman causing a scene. “Step back!”

A flicker of fear tinged their voices. They dreaded me overhearing this disturbance and losing my temper over something they should easily handle.

“I have information about the king’s mate!” she finally blurted out, her voice shaking with urgency. “Please, you have to let me see him! My two sisters are in danger!”

At that, my warriors hurried inside and returned with me. This was the woman’s first time meeting me face-to-face. Like most in my kingdom, she had only seen me on broadcasts and news reports. But my presence was undeniable.

The moment her eyes met mine, her knees buckled. My aura was overwhelming—she wasn’t used to such raw, commanding power.

“My king…” Her voice trembled as she bowed her head in submission.

“Rise. Tell me what you know.” I had no patience for formalities. My priority was locating my mate immediately.

“Th-there were several intruders in my home. I recognized one of them—it was Reginald from the Obsidian Claw pack,” she stammered.

My decision to publicly expose the traitors from every pack had proven effective. I had also placed bounties on anyone who took down these rebels trespassing on my land.

That’s how she identified Reginald.

“He brought a woman with him—she was injured, and he forced my younger sister to heal her. When I saw what was happening, I ran to get help.” Shame colored her face as she admitted fleeing, leaving her sisters behind in danger.

But she had made the wise choice. There was no way she could have fought off those warriors alone. And knowing I was nearby, she came straight here.

“I believe… I believe the woman is your mate, my king. I saw her curly, long brown hair,” she added. She was recalling Phoebe from a viral video months ago, when we had appeared together at a shopping center.

“Where is she?” My voice grew sharp, demanding more information.

The first sensation Flynn felt upon regaining consciousness was intense pain. A searing, unbearable agony radiated through his legs.

He groaned in torment, blinking to take in his surroundings. He was lying in a bed—one of the rooms in the beach house. Outside, distant waves crashed rhythmically on the shore, and soft afternoon light filtered through the window.

It should have been peaceful, if not for the relentless pain coursing through him.

This went against all shifter protocol.

Hierarchy was sacred in their world. For someone of Flynn’s former rank, the news should have come from at least the royal gamma.

Yet here was someone without shifter blood delivering such devastating news. It felt like a cruel slap in the face.

No offense to Marcela, but she was not a shifter.

“What? You’re lying…” Flynn’s heart pounded as he tried moving his legs again, but the pain stopped him cold.

“Don’t… please, stay still. You’ll only make things worse. You won’t be able to walk if you keep trying,” Marcela pleaded, panic creeping into her voice.

The weight of this revelation hit Flynn like another blow. He froze completely.

In his shock, he missed the other crucial piece of information Marcela was about to share.

“What do you mean? My healing ability…”

“The king crushed your legs and then forbade me from treating you until it was too late. Your legs are useless now…”
