“Mom said that I would get total control of my allowance once I’m in middle school. I could then get whatever building sets I want.

“I guess tonight. Callie and I are picking up Koben and the others at the airport. They are on the flight over. We’ll take you shopping tonight and get whatever you want.”

Since the Yorks saw Xavier as part of the family, the latter felt the need to dote on the younger members.

Chester smiled gleefully, “Thank you!”

Callia gave him a squeeze on the cheek. “Xavier and I aren’t married yet. Aren’t you a little too eager?

“You can ask for things from him in a few years.’

Chester said happily, “Well, you’re getting married anyway. It’s not like you’re going to marry someone else. For now, he’s family. Xavi ought to get used to the role anyway.”

Xavier grinned. “Chester is right. I should get familiar with being part of the family. I have no experience with getting along with my in-laws. I’m nervous.”

“Callie, are you heading to the airport? Is Koben alone?”

“Dream on. All your other cousins who aren’t working are coming. There are nine of them.”

Chester jumped in joy. “I have someone to play with. I get to play ball with them!”

He, along with his cousins, could form a soccer team. There was a soccer field at home anyway.

“You’ll have plenty of company. You can play ball, play games, and swim to your heart’s content.”

Suddenly, Xavier did not mind the third wheels. At least, they could gather and entertain themselves. Xavier and Callia could just watch on the side while flirting.

She believed she was great behind the wheel.

“You’re not a bad driver. You drive a car like you’re flying a plane, like your mother. I’m terrified. You might just give Xavier a heart attack.”

Callia giggled. “I knew it. That’s a reason why I’m a good driver. I take away Mom.”

“Don’t drive. It’s a long drive from the estate to the airport.

“Since you’re staying with me, I am responsible for your safety, Callie.”

Callia said in resignation, “Fine. I won’t drive. Xavier will be the driver. Can you stop worrying? Chester said he wanted to come along with us.’
