Even though Iris really wanted a second child, there was nothing she could do when her husband was not on board.
“Besides, having a second child doesn’t guarantee you’ll get a daughter. Among all of us, it seems like most people end up having sons.” Jane said, “Some of my sisters-in-law tried for a second child, too. Other than Elisa, whose second child was a girl, everyone else had boys. A lot of them gave up on the idea of having more children after that.”
The members of the York family had been even more determined than the Johnson family when it came to trying for daughters. All of them went for a second child, but unfortunately, most of them did not get the result they wanted.
Aside from Serenity, who gave birth to little Callia, the family's precious daughter, everyone else seemed destined to have sons.
Those who had twins the first time around did not even dare consider trying a second time, as they were terrified of ending up with another set of twins.
Jane also had twins herself. Although she had a boy and a girl, raising them when they were young was still exhausting. Her daughter had always been well-behaved, but her son was both mischievous and a crybaby. He had given Jane plenty of headaches growing up.
Since she had achieved the perfect balance of one son and one daughter in her first pregnancy, she and Ben had agreed that two children were enough.
Iris fell silent.
Since Callia had not driven herself, she rode with Chloe so they could chat along the way.
Meanwhile, Jane and Iris ended up in the same car. Everyone envied the close bond between those two best friends.
Several vehicles departed from FC & Co. Not long afterward, they met Devon, who had come to pick Chloe up. So, he joined the convoy and followed everyone to FC Manor for dinner.
As soon as they arrived and Callia stepped out of the car, someone threw their arms around her.
“Callia! You're finally here! I've missed you so much. I've been waiting at home for ages.”
The girl hugging her was Risa, the second young lady of the Johnson family and the only daughter of Remy and Elisa.
Most of the time, Risa lived in Wiltspoon with her parents and older brother, attending school there. During holidays, however, she would return to FC Manor to spend time with her Johnson grandparents.
Since Serenity and Elisa were cousins, Callia and Risa were considered cousins as well.

Callia had complete faith in Risa's abilities.
She was certain Risa would be accepted into the top high school in the city.
Chloe reached over and lightly tapped Risa on the forehead, pretending to be jealous.
“Hello, Risa? I'm standing right here, you know. The moment Callia got out of the car, you ran over and hugged her. What about me?”
Risa immediately threw herself into Chloe's arms and wrapped her arms tightly around her.
“The people I love most, besides Mom and Dad, are Chloe and Callia.”
Chloe and Risa were the closest cousins in the Johnson family, sharing the same grandparents. Risa truly adored her older cousin, Chloe.
Whether Chloe was really her absolute favorite person, though, was another matter entirely.
