“Chloe gave you the idea?”

Reality sank in. “It all makes sense now. I was wondering why you got into knitting. By the way, how did Chloe come up with that idea? No one we know has the know-how.”

Laurence replied, “Who knows? I simply asked Chloe what girls were into since I wanted to get Noelle something. Noelle isn’t like other girls, so the conventional gifts won’t work.

“Maybe Chloe got sick of me asking, so she threw out the first thing that entered her mind. Anyway, she told me to knit for Noelle. Havenmill in the fall is chilly. Though we spent most of our time in places with heating, we can still go out in the cold and admire the snow.

“A sweater can come in handy, but it won’t be good in Wiltspoon. The winter there isn’t even colder than the fall season here. The sweater is useless there.”

Sonny said, “The little tip from Chloe roped Ormond and the others in, too. They heard that you were knitting a sweater for Noelle, so they even made time to take up knitting. Aunt Seren laughed so hard when she caught wind.

“She told me not to let Uncle Zack know. Otherwise, he would give in to the pressure and learn knitting as well.”

Laurence burst out chuckling. “I didn’t think I’d cause a huge chain reaction. No wonder they texted and called me, asking what had gotten into me to cough up with the idea.”

It was Chloe’s idea, but he was the one taking the blame in the end.

“If you have time to knit, you can definitely handle the office work. I’m not going to be done here anytime soon, so don’t count on me to take over your work while you go on break.”

Laurence answered, “No, I don’t, Sonny. I stay up after work just to knit.”

“That’s not what I heard. Noelle whined to Chloe that you’ve been slacking off, knitting during working hours. Since you have so much free time on your hands, you can handle the workload. You can delegate the work to so many people at work, too.”

Laurence was lost for words.

He murmured under his breath, “None of them is as good as you. You can handle the work of three.”

Even the CEO was just another cog in the machine. He had a lot on his plate.

Everly and Kaden had insisted on extending hospitality to Sonny when he came to Clearfield. Everly could cover his accommodation and expenses there.

Sonny did not want to impose on her.

He was a man, and he was not strapped for cash. He could never let a woman pay for him, even if they were business associates.

“There’s a lady in the lobby, saying she’s your aunt. She wishes to see you.”
