Sonny said with a smile, “Never. I always have time for you.”
He motioned for Jeanne to sit on the sofa.
“Coffee or tea?”
After much thought, Jeanne replied, “I’ll just have a glass of water. I want to go to bed early tonight, so no caffeine for me.”
“Alright.’
Sonny poured Jeanne a drink and grabbed some of her favorite snacks.
Making herself at home, Jeanne took the snacks and ripped open the wrapper to munch on.
“Are you heading to Aunt Seren’s place for dinner?” Sonny asked while taking a seat across from her.
“Since I’m here, Aunt Seren is going to be upset if I don’t have dinner with her. I’ll give her a call in a bit, but I can only do dinner. I’m heading back to Jensburg first thing in the morning.”
“Look at you, busier than I am.”
Sonny took out his phone. “I’ll let Aunt Seren know now.”
He dialed Serenity’s number. Once the call connected, he said, “Aunt Seren, Jiggy was in Gallinger for business and stopped by Wiltspoon. She’s going to yours for dinner tonight. She’s heading back to Jensburg tomorrow morning.”
“Alright. I’ll get out of work early today and cook up a feast. Is Jiggy so swamped that she can only stay for a few hours?”
Sonny replied, “That’s what she said. I guess she has a lot on her plate.”
“Jiggy must be there with you. I’ll come over and take her out grocery shopping. I’ll make her whatever she wants. You should come over after work. Don’t drive all the way to the manor. It’s too far.”
Serenity’s family usually lived right downtown, only going back to the manor when their schedules allowed.
However, there was no safety issue in Wiltspoon as it was Zachary’s turf.
Jeanne took up the art of self-defense at the age of four. Though she could not beat Noelle in a fight, she could keep herself safe. Since she had yet to assume control of the Fisher family, she usually went out without bodyguards.
Besides, no one would hurt her. The Fishers had risen back to their glory days under Liberty’s decades-long leadership. Duncan’s influence was enough to intimidate any threat.
Even without a security detail, Jeanne had no fear when she was recognized. No one would lay a finger on her.
“I love whatever Aunt Seren makes me. Come to think of it, I haven’t had her cooking in ages.”
Sonny said with a smile, “You’re not alone. I can’t remember the last time I had her cooking. It’s either the chef or Uncle Zack in the kitchen when I go over on the weekends. Aunt Seren hardly cooks now.
“Even Heath said it has been a long time since his mom cooked for him.”
