“Now that you’ve taken over the position of family head, you’re going to hold a banquet, right? Have you chosen the date already? I’m going to Clearfield tomorrow for work, and I might be there for about a week or so. If you’re still picking a date, choose a later one, so that I’ll be able to make it.
“We definitely have to attend such an important occasion to support you.”
Laurence had taken over the leadership of the Longbottom family and was officially assuming the position of the head of the family. He was definitely going to hold a banquet and invite all the who’s who of Havenmill.
His friends and family definitely had to attend, too, not only to support the event but also to back him up and to tell the world he wasn't just an orphan—he actually had plenty of backers.
Laurence said, “I’ve not picked a date yet. Don’t worry, it won’t clash with your schedule. You said you were coming back soon, though. Why do you still have to go on a week-long business trip? Are things very busy there?”
“Of course, we’re busy. I have to manage so many things. I hardly have time to sit down. I’m out early and back late. I was too tired today, so I begged off the networking dinner tonight, but my dad called me over for dinner, so I came over after work. I’m on the elevator up right now.”
Laurence chuckled, “True, we’re all busy, but you have to rest sometimes. Your health comes first. Don’t wear yourself out. You’re still single. Sonny, you should think about settling down too.”
Sonny clicked his tongue. “People who are about to stop being single simply are different. You’re already nagging me from the viewpoint of an attached man.”
Sonny joked, “I’m in no rush. I’ll just let things take their course. If I meet someone suitable, I’ll naturally date, get married, and have a child. I only plan to have one kid anyway. Doesn’t matter if it’s a boy or girl, I don’t care, as long as I have offspring.”
He felt that he was too busy to take care of a family and would have to leave the caretaking of the home and child to his future wife. One child would be fine, but two would probably cause headaches and would probably be annoying even with a nanny’s help.
It would be easier if they only had to take care of one child.
“You don’t even have a girlfriend yet, and you’re already thinking about how many kids to have. I, on the other hand, want both a boy and a girl. Noelle’s younger than me by four years, and if we get married at the end of this year, we’ll have a kid by the end of next year. We can wait until the oldest starts preschool before having the second one.
“It’s alright if Noelle has our second child before she turns thirty-five, but I don’t want her to have any more children after.”
