“I’m just telling the truth. What’s there to be embarrassed about? My grandson is such a young, successful, handsome, and caring man. I wonder which lucky girl will end up with you.”
Olivia then asked, “Sonny, are you dating anyone? It’s time to start thinking about it. You’re not getting any younger. When your father was your age, you were already in preschool.”
Sonny put down his glass of water and said, “Grandmom, I haven’t met anyone I liked yet. There’s no rush. I’ll get married before I’m thirty-five.”
Olivia would ask about his love life every time he came over for dinner. He was used to it.
He was already thirty-two. At his age, many men and women were married with children, yet he was still single and had never even been in a relationship before.
It was no wonder the elders were worried.
Those from his grandparents’ generation typically married much earlier. In their eyes, one should already be thinking about marriage once they hit their twenties. Sonny was still single at thirty-two, so of course Olivia was anxious.
Even Duncan and Liberty were worried. They often asked Serenity to arrange blind dates for him, but he simply was not interested in the wealthy young ladies of Wiltspoon. He saw them often enough at social events.
Many of the women who pursued him were attracted by his looks and status. Serenity repeatedly told him that he should choose someone from a family of equal social status. With his current position, he could have his pick of any heiress.
Liberty often nagged him, saying that his standards were too high. There were so many wonderful girls, yet none of them caught his attention.
Sonny did not know why either. He just did not feel anything.
Both Hank and Duncan even asked him in private if he was straight or gay. Perhaps he was not interested in women at all.
Sonny did not know whether to laugh or to cry. Was it that strange that someone in his thirties had not dated before?
“Thirty-five is already old. Unless you find someone ten years younger than you, if you marry a woman around your own age, she’d be considered an older mother by the time she has children. She’d probably only have one child.
“You’re an only child, so you should have at least two children. It doesn’t matter whether they’re boys or girls, but of course, two boys would be best.”
