Married at First Sight (Serenity and Zachary) novel Chapter 5536

Meanwhile, the beautifully dressed Everly had also shattered people’s preconceptions about her, and many men sidled over to say hi to her, get her number, and offer their name cards.

Everly did not give out her number and only accepted the name cards, which she received many of in one night; not more than Sonny, though.

Once the banquet ended and they got into the car, Everly told Sonny, “This is the first time I’ve ever been this popular with the opposite sex, after all these years of attending all sorts of events with my grandfather.”

Sonny chuckled as he drove. “You weren’t as unapproachable tonight, so everyone became a little bit braver, mainly because you really are beautiful tonight.”

“Am I usually that unapproachable?”

“Quite. Definitely couldn’t call you approachable.”

Everly thought for a moment, then admitted, “Maybe I was a little unapproachable. I’m just used to putting on a stern face because of work, so it gave people the impression I was standoffish.”

It was more of a form of self-protection out of dislike for the purposeful approach of the opposite sex.

Their motives were too obvious.

She was scared she would be fooled, so she would rather not give anyone a chance. She did not want to have a taste of romance either. Her family would nag, but she would not go on blind dates or date regularly, so nagging was no use.

If she wanted kids, she could just do IVF. Her plan had never changed.

“Sonny, I’m a little sleepy. I’ve never had this much alcohol before.”

She was not drunk, but because she had had a lot to drink, she was a little sleepy and wanted to take a nap.

“Go ahead and sleep, then. I’ll wake you when we’re at your house. In my car, you can rest assured,” Sonny replied gently.
