Chapter 21: The Uncle-1
(Aurora’s POV)
Jasper shot up from the chair, his face a mask of dark fury. He paced the length of the VIP hospital suite, his expensive leather shoes clicking sharply against the linoleum.
If you are actually pregnant, Aurora, why the hell would you joke about it?” He spun around, pointing a finger at me. “Is this jealousy? Are you that angry? You do not use an unborn Everett heir as a bargaining chip. That is low, even for you.”
I sat perfectly still, watching him unravel.
You will take this check,” he commanded, his voice dropping to a growl. “Ten million dollars. And I am adding a clause. I will use my personal network in the medical field. I guarantee a stem cell donor for Leo within two months.”
I narrowed my eyes, scrutinizing the man I had once loved. It was laughable. He was head over heels for Sienna, yet he was obsessed with the “child” in my belly. Why? Did he plan to take the baby once it was born and hand it to Sienna to raise? The thought made my stomach turn.
“Two months,” I repeated, a cold smile touching my lips.
“Yes,” Jasper snapped.
“Fine,” I said. “I accept the deal. But hear this, Jasper. If that donor isn’t found in sixty days, I won’t just repost the audio. I will release the rest of the recordings. I will tell the world you bribed me to commit perjury.”
Jasper’s jaw tightened. He stared at me for a long moment, searching for the submissive woman he used to know. He didn’t find her.
“Deal,” he gritted out.
He reached into his jacket for his checkbook.
“Stop,” I said, waving my hand dismissively. “Paper checks? Please, Jasper. This is the twenty-first century. I don’t trust you not to cancel it the moment you walk out that door.”
d up a banking app on my phone and turned the screen toward him.
Wire it directly to this offshore trust account,” I said. “And in the reference field, you must write ‘Voluntary Gift”
He frowned, looking at the complex routing number. “Why a trust?”

“Security,” I lied smoothly.
I knew exactly what I was doing. If that money hit my personal account, California law might consider it community property in the divorce. But in a trust specifically designated for Leo’s medical care? It was untouchable.
Jasper pulled out his phone, his thumbs moving rapidly as he set up the transfer. He looked up at me, his blue eyes filled with a strange mix of confusion and alienation. It was as if he was meeting a stranger.
“Done,” he said stiffly.
I checked my phone. The notification chimed. Ten million dollars, secured.
“Pleasure doing business with you,” I said. “Now, get out.”
Once he was gone, I wasted no time. I drafted a statement on X and i********:, vetted by a quick text to my lawyer.

Vague. Corporate. Boring. Just enough to kill the hashtag.
“Sis?” Leo asked from the bed. He was looking at the trust account balance on my iPad, his eyes wide. “Is this… is this a breakup fee?”
I walked over and smoothed his hair. “No. It’s just an advance on the divorce settlement. Don’t worry about it. And don’t tell Mom, okay? She’ll just make a scene.”
“Okay,” he whispered, looking relieved.
My phone buzzed with a video call request. Olivia.
“You took it down!” Olivia shrieked the moment I answered. Her bright pink hair filled the screen. “Why? We had them on the ropes! People were eating Sienna alive!”
“I traded a fleeting X trend for ten million dollars and a guaranteed stem cell donor for Leo,” I said calmly, propping the phone against a water pitcher.
Olivia paused, then let out a low whistle. “Okay, damn. That is a good trade. Leo is going to be okay?”
“He’s going to be okay,” I said, feeling the first real wave of relief in weeks.
“Good,” Olivia said. Then her grin turned wicked. “Speaking of people on the ropes, did you know who your knight in shining armor was last night? The guy who stared down Jasper?”

Chapter 21: The Uncle-2
“Phineas Everett,” I said. “I know the name, but not the man.”
“Girl, he isn’t just a man. He’s *The Uncle*”
I frowned. “What do you mean?”
“It’s deep family drama,” Olivia explained, leaning into the camera. “Jasper’s grandfather was born out of wedlock. The ‘Bastard Branch. They were shut out of the inner circle for decades. Phineas? He’s the legitimate heir. The King. He controls Everett Global completely.”
She laughed. “Jasper is terrified of him. In the family hierarchy, Phineas is a god, and Jasper is… well, the help. That’s why Jasper’s company is ‘Aether Life Sciences’ and not ‘Everett anything”.”
It clicked. Jasper’s insecurity. His desperate need for approval. Phineas hadn’t helped me because he liked me. He had helped me to put his arrogant nephew in his place.
“So, Phineas is the one person Jasper can’t touch,” I mused.
“Exactly,” Olivia said.
A plan formed in my mind, sharp and brilliant.
“Olivia,” I said, a smile spreading across my face. “I’m going to Everett Global tomorrow. I’m going to apply for a job.”
Olivia threw her head back and laughed. “Oh my god. Jasper is going to have a stroke. Do it!”
(Author’s POV)
The atmosphere in the Everett mansion was suffocating.
Jasper had just received confirmation from his PR team that the scandal was dying down, but the tension in the living room was thick enough to cut with a knife.
Sienna sat on the velvet sofa, her face buried in a lace handkerchief. She leaned heavily against Victoria, sobbing softly.
“It’s just so humiliating, Victoria,” Sienna wept. “She fabricated that recording. She wants to destroy me. She wants to drag the Everett name through the mud because she’s jealous.”
Victoria Everett trembled with rage, her knuckles white as she clutched her tea cup. “That woman is a scourge! A curse on this house!”
She slammed the cup down. “Jasper! Next week is Adam’s memorial service. Do you understand how this looks? We are trying to honor your brother, and your wife is creating a circus! The main

family will be watching us.”
Jasper stood by the fireplace, staring into the flames. He looked exhausted.
“You must divorce her,” Victoria demanded. “Immediately. She is unfit. She has no dignity, no class.”
