(Author’s POV)
"Why is the door locked?" Yelena’s faint, confused voice came from the other end. She knocked thrice, breaking Myra and Brave’s emotional moment. Myra swiftly moved away from him, wiping off her tears as Elio walked towards the door to open it.
"Why was the~" Her voice trailed off, her eyes widening. "Huhh? Elio, what are you doing here? And why did you lock the door?" she was surprised to see him opening the door.
"Aaaa~ ... it got jammed," Elio made it up. She hummed and stepped inside. She was a little taken aback by Brave’s presence; her lashes fluttered without her knowing. She then noticed he was standing quite close to Myra. It made her feel irked for some reason.
Then her eyes went to Myra’s cheeks, which were streaked with tears; her eyes were swollen as well. Yelena made her way towards her friend and asked, all concerned, "Myra~ ... what happened? Why are you crying? Did~ ... any of them bully you?" She pointed towards the brothers.
Brave answered on her behalf, "She got a little emotional seeing your grandfather in this condition."
Yelena felt a bit uncomfortable seeing Brave speak for Myra, but she nodded in understanding. She then shifted her attention towards her grandfather. "Grandpa, let’s go. It’s time for our flight back home. The doctors there are waiting." Her eyes darted around the room. "Where is Secretary Grey?"
Elio pursed his lips, feeling guilty. He tilted his head to the other side, avoiding eye contact.
"Secretary Grey is in the other room. He was experiencing slight discomfort in his fractured arm. So, he is getting treated there," Myra quickly covered for him. "As for Mr. Yates Senior, it won’t be necessary anymore."
Yelena’s brow knitted. "What won’t be?" she queried.
This time, Elio came to Myra’s rescue. "Ahh~ ... what she means is, I checked up on Mr. Yates condition, on Myra’s insistence and sent the reports to my mentor, Dr. Andrew, before coming to the hospital. He said Mr. Yates’ condition can be cured. And asked me to prepare a decoction according to the requirements."
Yelena’s eyes narrowed, then expanded at his claim. "Wh~ ... what~ ... what did you just say? My grandpa~ .... he can be saved?" she choked on her words, her throat wobbled.
Elio nodded and added, "I just gave him the first dose. You can ask the doctor to run a check on him." He suggested.
Only then did Yelena notice a little red smear on Garry’s lips. She didn’t waste a single breath and rang the emergency bell right away. Within seconds, a team of doctors and nurses rushed in, followed by Liliana and Jeffery. Diana also came, supported by Henry.
"Doctor, please run a checkup on my grandfather," Yelena asked them.
"Ms. Yates, we understand your sentiments, but we already told you the patient’s condition. Nothing can be done now," one of the doctors said, sighing.
"Just do as she says," Brave asserted. His authoritative voice left them no choice. Yelena looked at him.
