Lorelei POV
I had the hottest dream.
Groaning softly, my eyes slowly fluttered open as little rays of sunlight warmed my face.
My body felt like lead, and every muscle ached as my mind lingered on the strange dream I had just been having.
But when I tried to move, I realized I couldn’t.
It felt like something heavy was resting on top of me.
That, combined with the pounding headache banging behind my eyes, made me feel worse than shit.
It was almost no different from the morning after I had gotten drunk.
I blinked through the haze of sleep as my vision slowly focused on the unfamiliar, lavish surroundings.
High ceilings.
Dark velvet drapes.
The scent of expensive cedarwood and masculine sweat clung to the sheets.
Wait.
This wasn’t my cramped bed in the servant quarters.
And that wasn’t a heavy blanket pinning me down.
My eyes widened as the drowsiness vanished almost instantly.
Slowly, with my heart hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird, I looked down and found half of a massive, muscular body draped over me, practically suffocating me.
A broad bare chest rose and fell with slow, even breaths.
Tanned skin stretched over hard muscle, and one heavy arm was wrapped possessively around my waist while his face was buried in the crook of my neck.
I wanted to scream.
I wanted to shove him off me and cuss this stranger out.
But every word died in my throat when I spotted the fiery red hair brushing against my jaw, and like a switch had been flipped, the memories from last night came rushing back.
How he had carried me to the bed.
How he had placed me on the bed and taken me over and over again in so many strange positions, filling me relentlessly with his seed until I had no strength left.
By the end, I had been left practically sobbing, my body trembling from being pushed to the edge so many times that I couldn’t take it anymore.
My face burned.
My thighs ached.
And between my legs, I was sore in ways I hadn’t even known were possible.
Oh, Goddess.
My stomach dropped violently as the horrifying reality came crashing down on me.
I was completely naked, covered in bite marks, and trapped beneath the Alpha King himself.
Alpha Kaelan.
What had I done?
If I stayed here until he woke up, I would be dead before the sun fully rose.
I mean, there was a good chance I would be dead either way, but not like this.
I had to get out.
Right now.
Moving agonizingly slowly, I held my breath and tried to slip out from beneath his crushing weight. Every muscle in my lower body screamed in protest, a deep, throbbing ache making it nearly impossible to move without trembling.
Please don’t wake up. Please don’t wake up.
I repeated the prayer over and over in my head, my eyes locked on his face as I carefully shifted an inch to the side.
A rough grunt left him in his sleep, and his brow furrowed at the sudden loss of warmth that must have registered somewhere deep in his subconscious.
For one terrifying second, his arm tightened around me before he buried his face deeper into the pillow where my neck had been moments ago.
I froze.
My heart slammed so hard against my ribs I was certain the sound alone would wake him.
After what felt like forever, his breathing evened out again, settling back into a deep, heavy rhythm.
Seizing the opportunity, I carefully slid the rest of my body out from under the silk sheets. The moment my feet touched the plush carpet of his bedroom floor, I doubled over, a sharp gasp catching in my throat as the soreness between my thighs nearly made my knees give out.
Shaking violently, I forced myself to look around the dimly lit room, my gaze darting everywhere as I searched for my uniform.
