As the Medusa Warship forged ahead, hidden undercurrents began to emerge from the depths.
These powerful currents surged beneath the ship, pushing it forward even faster.
"We're riding the undercurrent that leads to Blackshore Island," Ryan explained. "Even if we shut off the engines right now, the Medusa Warship wouldn't stop moving."
He tugged Matthew over to the edge of the vessel and pointed down at the swirling flow beneath the waves.
Matthew nodded, scanning their surroundings.
"The cliffs around us seem to be getting narrower," he observed, his brow furrowed slightly.
Ryan glanced around and grinned. "Yeah, but once we get past this stretch, it opens up. The route to Blackshore Island is no cakewalk—it's full of tight passages and tricky terrain. We always have to tread carefully."
With that, Ryan returned to the control room and began steering the ship with practiced ease.
Meanwhile, Matthew remained on deck, silently taking in every detail of their surroundings, committing it all to memory.
The Medusa Warship continued pushing through the increasingly narrow passage, flanked by steep rock walls.
Then, at last, Matthew spotted the light at the end of the cliffs—the exit.
"Mr. Larden," Ryan called as he stepped out from the cockpit, a note of melancholy in his voice, "once we're through, that's Blackshore Island ahead."
Their journey together was nearing its end.
For Ryan, the time spent traveling with Matthew had been the most exhilarating experience he'd had in decades.
Matthew's expression shifted slightly when he heard Ryan's words. He had long been curious about Blackshore Island.
Why did seasoned information dealers, known for sharing secrets for the right sum, suddenly refuse to talk when Blackshore Island came up?
Ryan navigated toward it confidently, steering the Medusa Warship toward a massive dock.
This dock dwarfed even the newly built one on Larch Island. A large sign suspended in midair bore numbered markers—Pier 1 through Pier 13.
Compared to the neat and orderly layout of Pier 1, the others looked chaotic and cluttered.
As they approached Pier 12, Ryan turned to Matthew with a smile.
"Well, Matteo, this is where we part ways. If you ever find yourself in District 12, just hit up any tavern. You'll find me. Dinner's on me next time."
Matthew smiled and nodded. "As long as your version of 'on me' doesn't mean I end up footing the bill."
"Bullsh*t," Ryan scoffed. "You think I'm that kind of guy?"
