Selkis Serania, the leader of the Serania family, scanned the scene with cold satisfaction. Ronny's four top stewards stood shoulder to shoulder like an iron wall.
Yet their boss remained nowhere in sight. That absence fed Selkis' confidence like fuel to a blazing fire.
"Where's your polished Mr. Donald hiding now? Since we've been found out, let's settle this with an honest fight," Selkis sneered, his voice dripping venom, sharp as a blade slicing through the night air.
Selkis had never bought Ronny's "I'm the good guy" routine. To him, Ronny was a glaring misfit on Blackshore Island—a savage land ruled by blood, steel, and merciless law.
Yet here was Ronny, trying to rewrite the island's brutal rules like a stubborn outlaw fighting a tide that would never turn.
That infuriated Selkis deeply. Even though Ronny had never directly threatened the Serania family and had once lent them a hand, Selkis could never count him as an ally. To Selkis, Ronny's kindness was a weakness, a dangerous delusion.
As Selkis' taunting words hung heavy in the air, Ryan and the other three stewards stepped forward with steady resolve. Not a flicker of fear crossed their faces.
"Selkis, you really think our boss needs to show up just to deal with the likes of you?" Ryan challenged, voice calm but steel-hard.
Selkis sneered, but he kept his composure, like a predator sizing up a cornered prey.
"Even if he wanted to come back, he can't. Without Ronny, what chance do you have against us?" he taunted.
Ryan's eyes narrowed, thinking to himself how Selkis always wore the mask of a loyal mutt when their boss was around. But now, stripped of pretense, his true ambitions glinted like daggers.
Ronny had barely been gone, and already the Serania family's claws were out, ready to tear the kingdom apart.
"We'll see if you've got the guts to back that up," Ryan growled, his team bristling with readiness to throw down without hesitation.
"You talk a big game, Mr. Ryan. But word is, Ronny's already caught in trouble outside. Whether he even makes it back is anyone's guess. Ha!" Selkis laughed cold and hollow, like ice cracking underfoot.
Whispers rippled through Ronny's men.
"Don't listen to him. Mr. Donald's fine. Selkis, you're just trying to shake our resolve."
Ryan didn't take the bait.
Honestly, even he wasn't sure what their boss' situation was, but without a clear leader, it was his job as chief steward to keep the troops steady and focused if they hoped to survive.
"Ryan, you and your loyal crew worship Ronny like he's a literal saint. But don't forget, his 'good name' was built on blood-soaked hands. That's just hypocrisy," Selkis hissed, pushing to sow doubt.

"Wait!"
After a long, breathless stand-off, just as war was about to ignite, a figure clad in white stepped forward between the armies.
Matthew moved steadily, cradling the sleeping Ariya with tender care in his arms.
"Excuse me. My daughter is asleep. Please come back another day," he said softly but firmly, his voice calm as a placid lake.
From the balcony above, Matthew had watched the endless clamor below, the relentless tension grinding on.
Inside the room, Ariya had stirred, so Matthew had picked her up, wrapping her in his warmth.

Determined to protect her rest, Matthew had come down to face the storm of noise and anger.
